LOK, I'lll continue to keep you posted on any elder-care information that might help you with your father's relocation.

You might remember that I've advised you to build a little cottage in your backyard for him to live in.

Well, on this morning's news, I learned that there's at least one company building a product called medpods, which everyone is calling "grannypods".

The selling price?$125,000

These are 3-room, prefab structures that will fit in most people's backyards, which are equipped with floord sensors for falls, 3-cameras so the children in the main house can "check on" grandma...

But LOK, you can build a nice studio apartment in your backyard for half of that.

The family interviewed pointed out that nursing homes costs are $72,000/year, so for them to buy the granny pod seemed like a good investment, since their goal was to NEVER let mom go to a nursing home.

OK, just something for you to think about.

I just think, your dad is young, in his early 70s, and that if you make the man cave for him, in the backyard, he'll bring his gear and move in fairly quickly.

It's better to be prepared for him to move in, when he's healthy, than to have him "have" to move in, when he's 83, and after a fall and surgery, when everyone is under immense stress.
