If Unity Township did this the School board would hit the roof. Something to keep a eye on, in Allegheny County

Isn't Rossyln Farms a very nice area south of Pittsburgh?

I think if any area can secede from an area, which does not serve its needs, it should, and be as self-sustaining as possible.

-----Unity is better run than Latrobe, and would fair well without the burned of 8,200, nimrods living in Latrobe.

-----Unity has the upper crust, the local's idea of the "upper-class", and the wealth.

-----Unity also has the shopping district, which Latrobe will NEVER recover, in its downtown area, no matter how hard it tries.

In fact, everything beneficial to the area is in Unity:

St. Vincent

The Airport

Kennametal

Country Club (not that this is any big draw for anyone of any class standing)

Soccer and ball fields

Most expensive real estate

hotels (Wyndam and the new one under construction)

Unity chapel

Many churches

The GLSD middle school and high school

I mean, the list goes on...

-----Unity should secede and let Latrobe collapse!

Rosslyn Farms is a nice area With homes assessed at 150000 and up in the Carlynton School District The district does a good job but millage is high and opportunity are limited. On a home assessed at 300000 dollar there a saving of 1000 dollars in school taxes a year if Rosslyn Farms were to join Chartiers Valley and more opportunity for students. Unity should look into being its own District like Hempfield. But lets see what happens with Rosslyn Farms.

Latrobe is run like a little high school clique.

Those with the money in Unity, and with the better management of real estate development, should take their money, and let Latrobe crumble continue on in its chosen, little:

-----insular, backwards, filthy, dirty, toxic corrupt town that it is!

See thats part of your problem, everything is negative that you say. You have bashed so many names and businesses. Do you really think anyone anywhere close is going to rent or sell to you? Try some healing and keep your nose and comments to yourself!

So, are you disagreeing that Unity has everything? that Latrobe is poorly run by a wee-clique? that all the big money lives in Unity and could wrestle away anything it wanted from the sick, toxic hamlet of Latrobe?

I think Unity self-management is a great idea.

-----Latrobe has its few school buildings for all the kids who live within the boundaries of Latrobe.

Let kids who live in the 1.5 sq. mile area all walk to school, and have a small town life! That's not bad.

-----Unity has land, and space, and plans, and goals, and a "Rt 30 Corridor" design program, where the buildings don't obstruct mountain views...

-----Latrobe has the dog shed in the once natural fields...
