The real world wrote: The truth is: If you put everything on the ballot, people will consistently vote against any project that involves raising taxes regardless of how badly it is needed. For example, the 1992 building project was desperately needed to modernize the school. The old Jr. High (that was torn down) dated from the 1930's and was severely outdated. That building would still be there with kids in it if it had been put on a ballot. That building could have been remodeled. look what Latrobe did with the old highschool. That building had more character than the current high school.

You would think the union and administration would at least be partial to the concerns of the affected teachers in the closing of the 2 elementary schools and the consolidation in mega Grandview.

nero wrote: why dont you derry people get your own site? nobody cares! Derry Twp surrounds Latrobe. many of us are closer to Latrobe and have Latrobe mailing addresses. If you look at the distribution of population, the small enclaves that surround of Cooperstown, Kingston, Mechesneytown,Clover Hill, Loyalhanna make up most of the population of Derry Twp. The only affinity with Derry is the school.

Since this project involves federal and state money, prevailing wage, union wages are the norm. Like it or leave it. This job is not for non union companies.
