Now that the Grandview renovation bids came in at 3.8 million dollars below expectations the District should give taxpayers a break.

Look out, they will spend this surplus on the 6 million athletic complex.

Any time there is a surplus in the budget, hold on to your wallets.

now that the teachers know, expect huge salary increase

I believe new contract talks with Derry teachers begins in the next couple months. I would be for them using it to upgrade their athletic facilities.

We should be allowed to vote like other states on school spending.
However PA is backward in this matter Pennsylvania has limited and rare referenda see editorial: As the Supreme Court pointed out in its ruling,“governance by referenda is a relatively rare occurrence in Pennsylvania, where we hold strong to the ideals of representative democracy and have no general constitutional provision for voter initiative or referenda”. space |

I know that some Board Members are wanting to pursue the 6 million athletic project especially McCracken. This gives them an opening.

We do NOT need an entire field house for our athletic dept. We need updates, we need space, we need equipment. We need PAINT. But, we can get by doing many things while we pay off the surplus in construction costs at Grandview for the next five years. I pay $1600/year in school taxes. Have no children. Come on.

Mc Cracken will push for the athletic project but when it is time to actually vote, he will be absent. When the time comes for the free meals and seminars from the contractors, he will be right there.

Very appropriate. |

They will say the the surplus is necessary to pay down the long term debt of floating all of these bonds over 20 so years.
A lot of residents in the Twp agree with you. |
I wish there were some more people running for the board who had the taxpayers concerns in mind. Huddock with the endorsement of the teacher's union does not look like a good candidate.
The only fiscally responsible board member is Ted
Schmidbauer. I wish we had more board members like him, who don't cave in to excessive administrative and teacher demands. |
Ted will be missed, He was for the taxpayers.
Ted balanced the needs of the taxpayers and school district. He was the type of board member we had back it the 1960's and 70's like Roy Cost. He will be missed.

You need board members who are not owned by the teachers union, and strong enough to stand up to administrators embellishing their resumes.
It did not take long for the Board to revisit the idea of spending the surplus on athletic improvements. I thought the survey results would have provided our elected Board members a message.
Soltis and others on the board appear hell bent on going against the wishes of their residents. |
