Has anybody utilized this airport/line?
I have a few times to Fort Lauderdale...great trips.

I hope the expansion plays out in the airports favor.
Any thoughts or ideas of where to add flights?

haven't had a chance to use them but would love to see them add orlando. It would be so nice to fly out of Latrobe instead of going to Pgh.

I here you as I have 3 little children, yet I would consider a flight into Fort Lauderdale and then a drive to orlando.

a Mrtyle Beach expansion seems wasteful.

I would love to see a boston flight and/or Chicago.

How about places where more people actually travel to and from on a regular basis? You know... New York, Chicago, L.A., San Francisco.

Oh, I would love to see a west coast flight.
I have a trip planned in my head for the west coast but right now it includes flying to fort lauderdale and then onto the west coast...

Why would anyone in their right mind do that??? Just to avoid travelling to and from the Pittsburgh airport?

It would be nice to have the commuter flights reinstated to Pittsburgh. I usually don't mind the drive unless it's after a really long flight. I don't think that they would consider it. Plus, I don't think that they fly into Pittsburgh at all.

I agree, and I think you're right...they don't fly into Pittsburgh, at least not the last time I checked. My mom flies down to visit us in Venice, near Sarasota. She hates driving to Pittsburgh airport, so it's always a huge ordeal to get her there. If they did a flight to Pittsburgh, I'm sure that would help a lot of people.

And, in response to Pixarfreak, who is flying to Ft. Lauderdale and then on to the west coast...I once tried to fly up to Latrobe from Sarasota. My mom was insistent that I fly to Latrobe, as she wanted to pick me up and didn't want to drive to Pittsburgh. I flew from Sarasota to Charlotte, Charlotte to Atlanta, Atlanta to a hub in South Carolina, SC to Detroit, Detroit to Latrobe. It took me 15 hours, and cost over $800.

Ok I get that, Spirit does not fly into Sarasota...
But Spirit does fly direct into Fort lauderdale and then flies direct to Las Vegas, Los Angeles.
Have you looked at its flight schedule?

So yes, I would avoid the drive and hassle of Pittsburgh if Spirit of Latrobe can give me an alternative.
You may not do it, but it serves my purpose.
Security at Latrobe is so incredibly simple and quick, the airport is 8 minutes from my house, and parking thus far is free. When I travel it is often with 3 children, the simplest version is best.

No, I totally understand...I guess I should've said "in response to Jim Moz", instead of "in response to Pixarfreak", as he asked why anyone in their right mind would do that (fly to Ft. Laud., then to the west coast). I was just saying that I've done something similar, only more chaotic.

Sorry for the confusion!

Spirit is only going to be putting in direct flights, and they are only going to be to their hubs where they already fly.

Its easy to figure out where they are gona fly too.

Take it for what its worth its just a rumor but its something that I heard. My initial reaction was the same as yours.

Who knows maybe he wants to buy it for something other than a hotel, or maybe theres something bigger happening than we know, or maybe its just a plain old rumor!

I would like for them to have flights to Philadelphia. I hear one of the airlines at Pgh, raised their round trips rates too $800.00 plus dollars.

I live in latrobe, company i work for is based in philly i all the time. Its not worth flying out of pittsburgh to philly even if the flight costs $100.00

You got an hour drive to airport, hour and a half parking and waiting in line, hour for flying+tarmac time. Then your in busy philly airport with no car.

It only takes 4 hours to drive there.. If it was out of latrobe though, might be a little better, no drive time, less waiting in line and on runways, etc.

Yep. Latrobe isn't really convenient to anywhere. Close enough to the turnpike, I suppose, but it could be better, even for driving. I'm amazed that Kennematal is still headquartered in Latrobe. I imagine they have at least one or two private jets at the airport to deal with being so isolated.

Latrobe to Vegas is a real possibility. I have it heard it is going to be announced by Spirit some time in the first quarter of 2012.
