I just watched a documentary about the wealthy, and learned that Paul Ryan believes in Russian playwright and novelists Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Wow, now there's a kick in the head. Paul Ryan, leader of the religious Republican party follows a not-well-received writer/philosopher/novelist, who's against religion and theology, who's work is not taught at the university level.

Anyone else watch "740 Park Avenue" on PBS?

I think I know why...

Because Paul Ryan is a numbers guy...

He just not very good with his "letters" yet.

Read the book, then judge.

Which book? "Atlas Shrugged" or "The Fountainhead"? or just one of her obscure texts that even academe doesn't teach?

She believes in privately owned post offices. Now how would that work? If Post Office A gets mad at Post Office Z, would my mail ever get delivered?

I believe only the government can operate businesses like the post office correctly.

You're right! UPS, FedEx, and DHL are all so undependable...especially when they get mad at each other.

Are you aware of what year this is?

Paul Ryan has a whole Ayn Rand Institute to turn to for help with his beliefs.

http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServer...

It's a Left Coast institute, but nonetheless, well organized and funded.

You're so silly sometimes. FED-EX, UPS, and DHL have their own worldwide networks. Would the US suddenly have "1" business running the USPS? I guess so...

I'm sorry, I was thinking of small businesses owning local post offices, as opposed to one mega-giant conglomeration owning EVERYTHING!

Are UPS, FedEx and DHL all one business?

Mitt Romney lost. Your Republicans are idiots. Their pre-abortion, rape-rhetoric is stupid. You're an idiot for believing in them, at the expense of large groups of people and modern beliefs and values.

HAHAHAHA.....you can't write about a topic that you pretend to understand so you prefer to go off topic and rant about your preconceived notions of what you think I believe.

Idiot...you should have been "pre-aborted".

No, I just responded to your stupid rhetoric. You called me an idiot. I call you and yours an idiot.

Now, why don't you explain how Paul Ryan can apply Ayn Rand's "Objectivism" to his position on any contemporary issue.

I mean, he said, he's closest to her philosophy than anyone's, so how does that play out in the real world?

"Ayn Rand, all hopped up on speed, too drunk to drive."

She should move to Latrobe, and hang with the 50-people a year who overdose from heroin.

Now, why would a nice Republican align himself with Ayn Rand?

Y'know, YOU are the one that holds yourself out to be some sort of scholar. Read the damn book yourself and make your own judgements.

Pull yourself away from the TV once in a while and read a book, then formulate your own ideas about why someone would be interested in Ms. Rand's writings.

Sheesh....is this what passes for an 'intellectual' these days???

Jagger, Paul Ryan is your man. This is an interesting situation, that a Republican choose a pill-popping, Russian emigre''s work, never well-received in universities, (although I have to say, my alma mater had classes on Ayn Rand), to define his 21st century beliefs on.

What's up with this "you and yours" nonsense?

Do the 50 people a year who overdose on heroin contribute any less than you?

I don't really think this apartment at 740 Park is all that great for $38,000,000: cash.

But, when you're a CEO, taking millions of dollars in bonuses when your clients are losing millions, well, what's $38,000,000?

38 million cash please
