Only 2% of Latrobeans make over $150,000, and since most attorneys are starving, it is the MEDICARE and MEDICAID MDs who fill this category, along with a few entrepreneurs like Rossi and Realtors.

I would gladly pay more taxes if the money was not misused by our government agencies.

And what would my rate be if I only made 499,999? Serious question too. I would be inclined to defer anything over 499,999 if it was at current rates.

Fed tax should be simple; no write-offs, no credits, no nothing.
W2 Income = X and tax percentage = Y.

Live in a mansion, have 12 kids, send them all to private school, doesnt matter - choose your lifestyle and pay for it.

I would love to see a simple purchase tax. Drive a modest car pay a modest tax, buy a super car pay super taxes.

What is a reasonable amount of money an earner can make and still be part of the 99%? Because I worl hard and have been given the skills to always make money hand over fist legitimately with out screwing some one else over. Tell me how much is too much before you whine and cry some of it should be yours because you chose to be limited in your marketing/skill sets? Should every one pay the exact same % in taxes? Why is this not already the case?

Absolutely take a flat % based off income and call it a day. It works for the state tax, local wage taxes, why not private citizens (not businesses) doing the same for federal?

<30k = zero
30,001 - 60,000 = 8%
60,001 - 100,000 = 12%
100,001 - 175,000 = 16%
175,001 - 275,000 = 25%
275,001 - 500K = 30%
500,001K - 1M = 35%
>1M = 40%

Money saved on IRS & other BS bean counters is also a +.

Forgive me, but why should the more money you earn you have MORE of a burden over others? Flat percentage across the boards. Pick a number. Where does makes more money = you pay more that your fair share. What is a fair share percentage.

Then, increase minimum wages and all wages.

If the flat tax rate is 20%, look at that workd out:

$4,000 from $20,000 =$16,000 to live on. That's not enough, sorry, I know.

But,$100,000 from $500,000 =$400,000 and that's more than enough to live on, I know this too.

The Federal Poverty level for two people is $15,130.

So, the FEDS should not be able to tax people down to the freakin' FEDERAL poverty level, now should they?

The Feds make those people you speak of less marketable and less educated and less willing to do better? I do not follow. So instead of bettering one’s self and working hard to get above that, it becomes the Feds responsibility? So do we want more/bigger government or not. I do NOT ascribe to the adage of "not everyone has the same opportunities to get out of poverty BS. I came out of poverty; most baby boomers came from poverty and built this great country. Dig out, like others have. Minorities have an even better chance to use programs already in place to better themselves.

If you make $20,000 a year and you don't think that's enough to live on then make more money. Be better. Not everybody wins, there are no participation trophies in life. If you want a better life, make a better life. Flat tax is fair. 20% of $20,000 leaves you with $16,000. If that isn't enough, then make more money, better yourself, don't be a loser and whine in a public forum about how tough life is. The guy that makes 500,000 is still paying 100,000 and that's alot. You people are stupid.

Why?? If someone in Latrobe makes 500,000 a year, I think they very well earned it. Brilliant! They must be doing something right...50 percent is way too harsh! Come on! Why 50

What you describe here is Not a flat tax. It is a progressive tax. A flat tax would be 16% for everyone regardless of income.
Your system gives people an incentive to make less money.
Plus this system creates steps/classes which are used to divide people instead of uniting them. They should not be able to make any law or tax that is applied to one group of people and not another. Then there would be no way the gov could divide and concur the people as they do now.
Everyone wants to be treated fairly. The problem is that they all have a different idea of what fair is.
That is the problem with "Democracy". You can get a lot of people to vote for something as long as it doesn't apply to them. This country is full of a bunch of hypocrites. They say they want fairness, then say "Hey that person makes more than me, he should be taxed at a higher percentage." Wrong.

I can't believe there are still people around that think like this.
Raise min wage and all wages???
To what level??$20 per hr?$30?$50?
At what point will you finally understand that, that is the reason we are in the position we are in right now?
The only jobs left are the ones that absolutely can't be outsourced.
What can you find in a store that is made here?
Every time you go to the store and buy anything you are sending almost every penny of that purchase price to China!
If you can find something made here, you won't buy it. You say "OMG, That is too much money!
Then you wonder why we are 16 trillion in debt.
And talk about what the Feds should and shouldn't be able to do. They should not be able to print money out of thin air and debase the dollar and steal your wealth through inflation. They have inflated the economy and the poverty level right along with it.
Don't worry though. We are the richest nation in the world. Right?
