It all boils down to companies getting filthy rich and the common workers doing with out. Isn't the objective of a company to make a profit? Why don't the unions ever create a company of their own?

The unions don't create a company of their own because they are not able to support themselves. They need a host company in order to bleed off any earnings like a parasite needs a host body in order to bleed off it's life blood.

So what happened at LeNatures, which is now Chestnut Ridge Beverage?

Your right, the goal of a company is to make a profit..but shouldn't everyone profit?? As far as In Bev, they were making huge profits - like they are now with the sell off of AB. And with Le Natures - I'm sure the workers profited... right out of a job ! NO UNION INVOLVED !! There is good and bad in everything

There is good and bad in everything Having a union there would have done NOTHING to help those workers keep a job. It seems the legal system is working as it should in that situation. If you NEED a union to make it through the work day, you need to look at yourself as the biggest part of the problem. 88% of Americans survive without one.

I never said that a union would have made a difference for those people, but a union didn't cause that either. My point is company greed. You say the fat cat union management getting rich - what about the fat cat company getting rich? And in SOME cases the workers not getting their fair share. Your points are valid and respected but there are two sides to every story. Are you or have you ever been a blue collar worker?

Its the company that took the chances and risks to start the business, NOT the union. Why don't you ever see a union open their own company? Its going to be fun to watch the UAW strike against Chrysler or GM, when they own part of each company. They will be reducing their own future, finally. It will be as stupid looking as the union striking its own union on here. How many companies have moved production offshore or to Mexico because they tired of stupid work rules, strikes and uncompetitive wages? How do you define "fair share"? Absolutely I have worked blue collar. I've been working since I was 15 years old.

Where is the union when investment to upgrade ANYTHING needs to be taken? The current contract issues with FORD is a perfect example. The auto industry is in the throws of the worst downturn in history and the union thinks it deserves a hand out! Hey you union supporters, where will you be when a plant shuts down due to your GREED and absolute unreasonableness? Get real. The very day that a union (parasite) opens a buisness, or in the case of Chestnut Ridge, re-opens a buisness, I'll join one.

Again, explain to the audience here why a union doesn't start their own buisness.

May I remind you people that this thread was started to poll my fellow workers at Chestnut Ridge Beverage as to weather they wanted a union or not. People that work for Chestnut Ridge Beverage knew that this poll was only going to be active for one week. We all knew non workers would be adding to this poll and you all proved our point that you have more time on your hands than all of us do. You can go on posting all you want but to be honest non of us care what you have to say.

The union will promise you the world and then watch with delight as you fight amoung yourselves, argue about what the best way is to screw the company, how to dumb down the work force and impede ANY form of progress. All the while taking your "dues" right to the bank. Then when you need them the most, they will walk away and try the whole process again at another company. Look at all your "brothers" now out of work and all the "offshore" companies making what you used to make. You don't need a union, you need a work ethic!

The TRUE union spirit. See what you get with a union. For anyone who has not had to put up with a union environment, take a good look. NOTHING workable, just finger pointing and loud-mouths.
