What about that family that does all that planning takes a vacation day and it rains? Shit happens. Weather, tech issues and manpower. You are the only one that can control your day.
I asked once and ill ask again if you are so disappointed have you done anything to let them know or do you just like to complain here? Post on their fb page, email them, let them know.

This is just another manifestation of globalization. When you have a business that is run by an overseas entity that is focused solely on making money...then you have what you have at Idlewild. Its the same thing that happened to Newcomers, Rolling Rock Brewery, and other plants in the area.
I'm not 100% certain, but Idlewild/Kennywood was supposedly purchased by an outfit from Spain. Seeing what Spain is going through in terms of debt and the euro...is it any wonder that Idlewild would be the least of their concerns.
But go ahead and vote in more politicians who pride themselves on being good citizens of the world instead of being good champions for common American intesets. It's time to be one or the other...you can't be both and say you are for Americans.
I thought Kennywood owned Idlewild. Is Kennywood foreign-owned?

If yes, what a shame that local businesses couldn't get together, form a consortium, and keep the parks running-well for the local communities.

The tracks of the Rollo Coaster were worked on and finished back in the spring time, so I am unsure why that has never opened. Possibly insurance, or something along those lines?
The Wild Mouse. I heard a law suit of some sort happened with that ride. Blame the dummy who decided to go on probably with a bad back, that got injured further.
The Scrambler. It was operating for over a month, then it got shut down. My guess is a technical issue of some sort. I would rather be safe & have the ride shut down, then for it to be open & unsafe.
Like someone else said, if you want to know what is going to be closed any given day, just check their website & it will tell you at the top of the page. It tells you what will be shut down EACH DAY. If you choose not to look at it, well that's your own choice.
a technical issue with the scrambler?? It isn't the freaking space shuttle! Its an electric motor with a hydraulic pump!!!!

Only park in the area that has to post closed rides. Park grounds are litter-filled; bathrooms are dirty; weeds growing through cracks in the pavement...no signs of typical routine maintenance being performed. E-mailed my comments and have received no reply. The happy-happy Twitter comments address none of the negative issues nor do they supply any updates. Idlewild is on the downward spiral. Should not have to pay full price for half-price amenities.

This part is entirely false. Kennywood does the same thing. For the past week or so they have listed that both the Volcano and Auto Race are closed.

To sum all if this up, just go to Kennywood. They have managed to keep the park fun and original, and allow both teens and small children to have a fun time. Idlewild really isnt worth the price and it has gone down hill. I personally work at Idlewild and i can tell you guys that it just isnt any fun anymore. The rollo coaster is open now, but the scrambler and wild mouse are not working and probably wont for awhile. Just go to Kennywood and spend your money wisely.

The Scrambler and Rollo Coaster are open, but when I went to Idlewild on June 24th, they are not doing any work on the Wild Mouse, (I heard that the cars were not in good shape, they failed to do maintenance on the cars), I guess this was the Thomas Full Steam Ahead show that is making Idlewild to refuse to fix the Wild Mouse, although I found the show was great. (Also, they need to fix Henrietta Pussycat's mouth on the Mr Rogers ride because there's a clacking sound).

I agree Derry should not have a school picnic at a kiddie park, especially since so many of us Derry students are in for the thrill of big dangerous looking rides

The Caterpillar was taken out for the season. It is due to come back next season. It is being refurbished. The ride is 65 years old...I think it deserves a little break and some special TLC after all those years!

As far as Dizzy Lizzy goes...I have no clue what really happened there. I believe they have some sort of Western show in that area twice a day though.

I havnt taken my kids to the park in about 3 yrs. they don't like it. I rather pay the extra money to go to kennywood any day. Latrobe should move the school picnic there.
