Good question, but I don't have the answer for that, you will have to ask the board members for an explanation, good luck in getting an answer.

Hey, "What" - the committee has spoken. They were a collection of YOUR community members. Real, hard facts were analyzed. Not feelings about "Doc." Did you attend any meetings to make your opinion heard? Bet not. So, now stop whining and trying to preach to us.
These people are not just people in our Community, they were hand picked by Brandt and his Board Members. They were not picked by the people of Newport, and its sad to hear that the teacher that was picked from Mildred Dean was a former teacher at ADO and a good friend of Brandts, good cover huh? She has nothing to lose, she gets to go back and be with her friends, and sources at MD already said she was promised a job at ADO. What a joke! Please dont say our community!!!!!!!!!

You need to add that she is one of the best teachers in the district. She cares and her students at both schools have been very successful. You all complain enough about the bad teachers, lay off the good/great ones.

My post isnt whether she's good or bad, it was to make a point that she was placed there by Brandt and she doesnt care whether MD stays or goes. A new commitee should be formed and let SB councils pick them not Brandt. She may be a good teacher but very easily influenced.

YOU say she was placed there by Brandt. Look at the vote, she wanted to keep MD. As for being easily influenced. I dont think so. She is a great teacher, leave her alone.

No ask her how she voted she will tell you that she made the vote to close MD. Her exact words were "Everybody else did it, I just didnt see MD staying open, so I voted to close it". Ask her, I never said she wasnt a good teacher, so get off that subject. I just stated Brandt placed her there becuase he knew she would do what he wanted her to do. And with a promise to keep her job.

Everyone voted to close MD.
There were only 2 choices to vote on that final night....both involved closing MD.
There was no real choice otherwise.
1 choice was close MD only.
The other choice was close MD and 4th St.
So of course she voted to close MD. They all did.
The only other recourse was to abstain.
Everyone's vote was basically made for them because 3 certain people, who shall remain nameless, ensured that the closing of MD was made into the final 2 choices.

Closing MD is one of the worst mistakes the district has ever made, and they have made some winners.

The reason they are not closing 4th Street is because they will get nothing out of it's sale. That property belongs to the city. Look it up on the PVA web site.

It appears to be something more than fiscal to close Mildred Dean.
Especially when the current board continues to spend money foolishly.
Perhaps the rumors of legal action has some validity.

Time will tell but everyone will see that closing MD will be a huge mistake. Once it is closed and sold there is no getting it back, and the district will lose over half of the MD kids at the start of next year, can they really afford that?

I say lets go district wide and look at all non-teaching positions, like tech people. Why pay for temps? Or numerous computer trainers - why one in each school? Use floaters. Or excess janitors? Get rid of them.

What I think those people make about 10.00 an hour or less lets get rid of the top dollar non-teaching positions. You have bigger fish to fry than a janitor for gods sake!

Not if they're hired because they're someone's friend and they're not needed. Every little bit helps the bottom line. You don't have to have so many janitors by state law, but you do have to have most of the positions you complain about "at the top" by law. Too bad that the people filling those positions have risen to the top of the salary schedule.

Does that mean that when CO was ran with less than 10 employees and not as many "positions", I'll assume as efficiently, that they were not following the law?

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Aries

A certain person is being very feisty and fiery today. You may also suspect that they're looking for an argument and will provoke you until you rise to the bait. Trigger points include shared finances, sex and any topic that is currently supposed to be off-limits. You'll probably discover that you want to clear the air, but don't get carried away.
