Undoubtedly, Obama was right to realize after four years that his best bet is on Israel as one of the strongest allies which is located in the center of the Arab Mozlem Brother Spring chaos. Obama created the new US-Turkey-Israel axis which aims to defeat the Iranian-Syrian-Russian-North Korean axis of evil that seek to use nukes and WMDs to bring disaster to the Middle East and beyond. Chuck Hagel knows that he can feel safe in Israel as the strongest ally of America and the American people with its own Natural Gas resources in the Mediterranean Sea and best anti-missile systems which is different than the hostile and unstable Israel's neighboring terrorists' ruled regimes.

Israel is NOT our best ally. It is a vicious little viper of a nation that if we aren't careful will kill us.

The US should become friends with Russia and turn Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia, etc and all the rest into demilitarized puppets. We are wasting our money for nothing on these backwards countries.

Turkey is not a "backwards" country. It began modernizing under Ataturk and has been progressing steadily ever since. Right now it is as technically, economically, and politically advanced as any state in the American South. Turkey is in many ways the workshop of Europe. Turks build everything from jet airplanes to Case International farm tractors.
Something else about the Turks: when a Turk gives you his word, he keeps it. When you get right down to it, given a choice between the U.S. having Turkey as an ally and Israel, I would choose the Turks.
