Well here again we see the uglyness of the Nevada Prison system, the system the Govenor chooses to ignore and still allows a dictator to be in control of.. Another man died this Wednesday during a cell extration, while the warden and the assistant warden watched yep they laid 2 1/2 cans of gas into a 4x10 cell and he died..But no, no worries there is no abuse in the Nevada Prison system nor are there any doing time under these abusive conditions there just for paper crimes. It is a sad day when we allow our prisons in this country to starve and torture other Americans like we hear about in third world countries...I pray for us, we are seriously becoming more foul all the time...I am sick with speechlessness and sorrow that this can happen and it all get swept under the rug....If you have a loved one at Ely say your prayer for them...

You should see the way Tennessee treats it's male inmates. They are constantly under assault. Many of them even get raped by the male guards. The Tennessee prison system is a racket and an extreme abuse of basic human rights. A large part of the state's budget depends on it's prison population. The more inmates they have, the more money they can "legally" scam the Federal government out of while not allowing the Federal government to know what IS TRUELY going on.

Here is a list of The prisons in Tennessee;

Morgan County Correctional Complex - Wartburg
Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility - Nashville
Hardeman County Correctional Center (Operated by CCA)- Whiteville
Mark H. Luttrell Correctional Center - Memphis
Charles Bass Correctional Complex (formerly Middle Tennessee Correctional Complex)- Nashville
Northeast Correctional Complex - Mountain City
Carter County Annex located in Roan Mountain operated under NECX
Northwest Correctional Complex - Tiptonville
Riverbend Maximum Security Institution - Nashville
South Central Correctional Facility (Operated by CCA)- Clifton
Southeastern Tennessee State Regional Correctional Facility - Pikeville
Tennessee Prison for Women - Nashville
Turney Center Industrial Complex - Only
Turney Center Annex (formerly Wayne County Boot Camp)- Clifton
West Tennessee State Penitentiary - Henning
Whiteville Correctional Facility (Operated by CCA)- Whiteville

Notice there is only ONE prison for women. Tennessee, being a woman's state, does everything it can to avoid incarcerating females, while doing everything to incarcerate as many males as they can.

In Tennessee males are considered garbage.

Maybe the morale of the story is: don't do something that lands you in prison.

Do you realize that there are people that are executed because they were in the area of a murder, it is called the law of parties.
Sometimes my friend it is very easy to land up in prison without even trying..

Funny thing is half the time the ones locking them up are soon to break the law..In nevada we have a high corruption rate, or own Govenor might be charged with rape here shortly we'll see how he likes his system then? What comes around goes around.

The law of parties has to do with the promoting, assisting, encouraging or directing the commission of a crime. It is your duty to what you can to stop the crime, like call the police.

Once again, landing in prison is an optional thing.

As the mother of the female victim of an Ely State Prison inmate (for life) I find it somewhat comforting that the everyday living conditions are not all that "ideal" for the animal that was convicted of the crime[s] he was charged with by a jury of his peers. I agree with Here in Vegas that 'prison is an optional thing.'

i sorry i can't feel anything for the prison. life gives a lot of people bad breaks, but they don't go out and commit a crime. i feel sorry for the guards that have to put up with the scum. the prisoner would still be alive if he just walked out of his cell like he was told. the state should sue the family for his prison cost

I am a correctional officer (in Tennessee)... These men and women that are locked up, are there because they refuse to follow rules in the free world and they get caught... Then they get in the prison and break the rules as well (not all of them)... If you have family that is locked up and they are in trouble while in prison.. 99% of the time it is their own fault... Some do not respond to write ups and privledge deprivation... I have no sympathy for the inmate that does not follow rules.. I've seen too many officers assaulted by these inmates that never get the idea of treating people with respect... If the conditions in any prison appears to be inhuman think about the victoms of these inmates... Are the crimes they commit ok with you?... I have friends and family that are also locked up and I have no synpathy for them either... Bottom line is... DON'T DO SOMETHING THAT CAN GET YOU LOCKED UP!!!

All the people on here crying about the inamtes being abused why dont you become a correctional officer for a few months, get piss and shit thrown on you, get death threats, have known killers tell you they know where you live, where you family is at, have them attempt to black mail you, walk a tier in fear of getting shanked, then we will see how much pity you have.

so by your way of thinking then almost all of america can be placed into gangs, corporate gangs, military gangs, police gangs, firemen gangs, state trooper gangs, FBI gangs, local goverment gangs, anyone that would hold the law or tell someone else what they are doing is wrong would be a gang.

getting locked up doesn't shouldn't mean that guards get to take their frustrations out on the inmate. You would certainly be singing a different tune if it was your brother or sister being raped and beaten while guards stand by and watch. I bet that's how you guys get your rocks off

@ mad... wrong is wrong whether you are locked up or in charge of people that are locked up... I do have family and friends that are locked up... If they follow the rules like they are supposed to they most likely will not have to worry about coreectional officers (we are not guards by the way)...Yes there are a few bad officers and I do not support abuse of any human or animal... but to think we have to create this comfortable day camp for adults that won't obey the law is a joke... Through my own experience and in my own opinion prisons are way to soft... The conditions of prisons nowadays makes doing time easy. I know for a fact a large number of these inmates commit crimes so they can return to free food and living... they have a hard time adjusting to society so they go back to where they are comfortable(That is a shame)... Ask anyone that is in corrections and they will tell you these people become institutionalized and struggle to live in the free world... Again, don't do crime if you don't want to go to prison.

I work in Tennessee... there are two prisons for women... Mark H. Luttrell Correctional Center - Memphis is a women's prison... your claims are exaggerated... there is no on going abuse of inmates going on... when ever news comes out about confrontations the full story is hardly ever put out... you would have to be in there to see how alot of these inmates act... There is alot more inmates abusing and disrespecting staff than is reported... Tell your loved one to stop breaking the law and disregarding rules and this would not be an issue for them... These prisons aree too soft in my opinion... It should be an experience that you never want to go through again but it's not for alot...Again, too soft.
