I hope this means trouble for ESP, they have had time to change their ways and have not. The only way changes will be made is when the state has to pay and the ones responsible lose their jobs. Starting at the bottom with the guards whom ignore request for medical treatment and good old "JOE" the medical director for ignoring doctors orders and practicing medicine when he just has a nursing degree. I know only to well, my brother just became another statistic of their treatment. I wish he had gotten treated as well as the terrorist in Gitmo.

Karen..I am so sorry you lost your brother...please take some comfort in knowing that in Michigan recently approximatley four hundred women have lined up filing lawsuits against the state for putting male guards in places they don't belong..and as a result some women were raped and had to keep quiet as they feared retaliation..and so far only about ten women have had their cases reviewed by the high court but those ten have won overhwelming victories... and have been awarded millions of dollars each.

When the justice department of any state takes on the right to incarcerate a person..they must do so humanely and properly..and when they fail..the federal government will not stand for it.

There are STILL about 375 women left waiting to go to court in Michigan..and ALL of the ones who have so far have won their cases by a landslide...and the mistake may end up costing the state of Michigan hundreds of millions of dollars in the end.

I'm so sorry you lost some one to Nevada's cruel and harsh prison system. I have heard its one of the worst in the nation. If the high courts do not justify this..be sure Karen..God will bring Nevada to its knees. There is a God.

My prayers are for you and your family today..and for your brother.

I JUST GOT OUT OF ELY...BARELY. IT IS ALL TRUE AND I HAVE MORE ISSUES THAN I KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT. MEDICAL MALPRACTICE DOES NOT DO JUSTICE FOR THE WAY THEY TREAT PRISONERS.

Were you an invited guest of the prison. No I think you wrote your own invitation, funny how when you people in prison get to prison you immediately want to see a doctor but yet on the street you could not find your way to a doctors office. Here is a thought stay out of prison

Sure! I find it difficult to feel bad for people that robbed , raped , or is just flat out a waste of space.

Many times it has nothing to do with robbing or raping. Most of the time it's somebody smoking pot. Over 50% of the people in prison are there for drugs and non violent offenses. These people do not deserve to die there because the medical people don't care about them. If any of you has a brother or sister or friend or uncle or son who has done drugs, then YOUR loved one could be there. Stop judging something you know nothing about. Sanctimonious twits!

Okay so what about the other 50 per cent, you know the violent ones, I am not saying everyone should be treated badly but what about the guy who is doing time for his third domestic violence, what about the guy who is just a bad seed, if there are 3,000 people in a prison and 1500 are violent offenders, those are some scary numbers. Just because your family is in jail or prison dont assume that mine is as well, WHy dont you do something to help your whacked out druggy family member instead of waiting for society to cure them

@Jeff6 I will pray for you because people like you who judge will be judged. Don't judge someone until you have lived their life! Period! Also Life happens! Don't ever assume it won't or can't happen to you or a loved one! There are people in prison who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time so I hope you are protected at all times and that the cops like your face otherwise you may find yourself in prison too! I wish people like you would have some consideration for the families before you attack on line. I pray you will never experience their pain!!! PS no! I have never been in prison and no! I don't have a family member in prison but I DO HAVE A HEART & CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS!

In my brothers situation he came from a min security camp to ESP for medical treatment, that is a real joke. He died because they did not do a simple complete blood count the times he was sent there for medical treatment, which is standard care for someone with complaints of abd pain, 50 pound wt loss in 3 months and had blood in his urine. He had a blood cancer a large turmor in abd. He was forced to go out in the winter and bust rocks with just Tylenol for pain after he was given massive doses of laxatives. As a RN I new he was in trouble. The Nurse in Charge, Joe told me there was nothing wrong with him, he was just lazy. I had to go to the governors office to get help. It was to late for him as they fooled around for months. He had stage 3-4 non hogdkins lymphoma and died due to complications. The Judge promished he would get all the medical care he needed. Three months of no treatment was a death senctence. Even someone on death row or life deserves better than this. All these nurses still have their licenses and there was no doctor at time.

By the way, the lawsuit was a joke, nothing has
changed except they had to pay the Patrick Cavaugh's family $450,000 for letting his legs rot off in prison. Some of the nurses should have lost their license and had to spend some time in one of Nevada's fine prison along with the warden and
some of the guards. My brother told us where the
copies of the forms were hidden asking for medical
treatment. Guess what, they were not in the seams
of his clothes or under the lining in his shoes when the family rec'd his personal things. I was
told he had not been asking to be seen but a few
times. All he had to do was request and complete
a form. He did not deserve this.
