LAS CRUCES >> A three-eighth of 1 percent increase to the gross receipts tax approved by the Las Cruces City Council in early September -- and again in October -- will not go into effect until July 1, after a ruling Monday by the New Mexico Supreme Court.

Yep and the city council should be embarrassed right along with the overpaid City Managers.
These fools bypassed the voters - can't put this to a vote. Once they were told it could not pass the way it was they retooled the law and passed it anyway.
Now they are told to wait until July 1 - guess the next thing we will hear is a bunch of whining from them about how the city can't operate and we need to either cut services or increase fees.
Never anything about cutting the top 1% of all wage city employees wages to offset - funny are they not a bunch of progressives that support that kind of thinking (oh wait until it affects them).
