"We were all excited about the baby," Ramirez said. "We never expected something like this."

Excited about a 14 year old girl being pregnant? I would not be suprised if this was the first time she was out at 3:00am.. I hope if they have other children they can find something better in them to be exited about...

How did we go from age 24 and named Carlos to 21 and named Johnny? How did Lucero go from 21 years old to now only 14? This is a tragedy in that lives were lost, but also what the volunteer firefighters, sheriff's deputies, and paramedics will now have to see in their minds for the rest of their lives. A 14-year old girl pregnant and she was "excited about the baby" - of course she was, to her it's like a doll to play with while Mommy does the babysitting whenever she wants to go play with her friends.

Sounds like the taxpayers have just saved thousands of dollars in medical care, food stamps, and the WIC program. Score.

First of all, what responsible adult says the family was "all excited about the baby" for a pregnant 14 year-old? Give me a break, please. Where in heaven's name were her parents? Are they to be held responsible for failure to supervise and protect her, which lead to not only her pregnancy, but her ultimate death?

Second, this story smacks of classic dating/domestic violence, where the guy speeds to scare the hell out of his girlfriend, punish her emotionally and teach her the lesson that she should never cross him, leave him, make him look stupid in public, etc. Could the young man have decided to kill himself, and took along his girlfriend and unborn child so that no one else could have her?

Don't laugh folks. It was only a few years ago that Las Cruces saw a beautiful 14 year-old girl named Ashley Wax snuffed out on her own front lawn by a violent, jealous abusive boyfriend. It happens everyday across America, and it's a complete travesty. It would be really nice if the police and in addition the Sun-News investigated this incident to help people out there understand what happened here, as well as just how lethal dating/domestic violence is.

Sua,
Bob always means it. Read his other hateful posts. It will be thrilling when he's old enough (probably soon) to benefit from social security, etc., so he can shut the f. up about everyone else who he accuses of taking advantage of him. But also read....he posts constantly, so must have a lot of time on his hands. I hope he holds down a job himself.

They took the I.D's. I mean they were given the I.d's. It's not the first time they have done this. Just ask the cashiers at the vado truck stop were Jonny bought beer

This wasn't domestic/dating violence issue yes it was sad to lose these two young children and the families are griving. I can't believe how cold blooded some of you people are on here. But you all either have nothing better to do or never have had a family member die.
RIP Johnny and Lucero you both will be missed

OK so if your saying to ask the cashiers at the Vado truck stop then they are also responsible for selling the beer to Johnny. So what's wrong with this picture? If they knew Johnny was underage WHY ARE THEY SELLING TO HIM OR ANY OTHER MINORS??????
Maybe you are the cashier and you know all about it. I think the police should check you and the others out as well.

I am disgusted by how some people utilize these forums. Please take in consideration that many family members read these posts and it truly hurts when strangers start speculating and making up cr@p about their deceased family members in the news.

If they were going 100 mph then it was no accident it was their own fault. Never should they have been going that fast or be out that late at night in the first place.

Did I read the article right a 23 year old man got a 14 year old pregnant?

Prayers for the family they have to pick up the pieces of this mess.

People are able to make rude comments because they don't care about others. I too was upset about the things people wrote but I figure it doesn't matter what people say about Johnny or Lucero I'll always remember them. We are stronger and better people for ignoring these stupid comments.

Yes it was a choice and it was a crash mpt an accident read the title it said CRASH. No the 23 year didn't get a 14 year old pregnant. Go back and read this article it's correct the previous one was incorrect with wrong names and ages. Yes both families are dealing with the loss of their family members. What they need now is prayers so please pray for them all.

As a Minister here in Las Cruces, I was completely shocked by this comment. It was like a punch in my midsection. I continue to observe the most wonderful things life has to offer, but unfortunately am frequently reminded "... from the heart the mouth speaks..."

And you are an even bigger looser for making this comment. You should have been the one killed in that accident. That is one less a## hole less in the world!

I suspect that's exactly what happened.

I am very sad for the families involved but I'm also shaking my head at the amount of deception (borrowed or stolen ID, sneaking out) going on at such a young age, not to mention that she was only 14... What a waste, on so many levels.
