Apparently, the Southwest is no longer the best place to live any longer. I was just looking at the list of the top 100 best places to live, and not only is Las Cruces off the list, but there isn't a single place in the Southwest on that list. They're all places in the upper Midwest and in the Northeast and East Coast. So, accept the fact people. You had your little growth spurt, and now it's over. It's done.
You should read the list again, most places on the list are in California which is neither the upper midwest, the northeast or the east coast. And they specifically looked at small towns for the list... and other areas of the country have a lot more small towns than the southwest.
And finally, some stupid list in some magazine is not the arbiter of where people do or don't want to live.

Carrying grocery bags out to your car is called "part of the job description"! That is part of the requirement when you're a bagboy. He's getting his hourly wage.

Bagging groceries is his job description. Helping load the car is extra. We are talking spare change here ... how cheap are you?

Don't ridicule anybody for the type of job they do in order to earn their living. Your comments say more about you than the one who does the bagging. You may one day depend on that human being who tries to earn his or her way in life that way. Didn’t your parents teach you to show respect to those who are less fortunate than you are? |

The reason your little "princess" doesn't know if she will graduate yet is because the university needs to make sure she passes all of her classes for this previous semester first. If she didn't pass her classes, then she will not be graduating. Simple as that.

The sky is falling according to one soundoff. Relax and let the markets do their thing. Al Gore and his ilk has already started this country into a spiral of lunacy. Ask the looney left in New York City today about global warming.

Is your comment meant to be humorous? If so, you chose the wrong adjectives; if not, you are a witless twit. |

Most of the time, my tip is refused, but I always offer one... you sound like Steve B. in the movie "Reservoir Dogs". I'd bet dollars to donuts that you don't tip in a restaurant for the servers who make below minimum wage... cheapskate. |

I find myself asking the same question day in and day out whenever i'm out in the public: What has happened to our self-respect? When did it become acceptable to have blobs of fat hanging off our bodies and still wear clothing that is 5 sizes too small? What has happened to cause so many people to give up taking care of themselves and their children? Have we turned into a non-caring society?

"The only reasonable reply I could come up with was it was filled with the hot air furnaces of Ken Miyagishima when he ran for mayor. Mr. Miyagishima got the job of mayor on promises that he has failed to keep, much like a car or insurance salesman who make promises to make a sale that they can't keep."
Interesting comment in sound off. Myagishima was an insurance salesman. Which is exactly why I didn't vote for him. They are crooks. |

Thanks for your comment John. To momma and her little "princess". Your daughter should know whether her diploma will be received in the mail in 6 weeks. Did she attend class and complete her requirements? If she did this then she should not be so worried. I think you should be asking your daughter whether she graduated or not. Not the university, they didn't go to class for her. I knew both undergrad and grad that my diplomas were coming and my professors gladly affirmed that I was receiving it. Hope your money was well spent! Mine was!:)twice |

From Las Cruces, New Mexico, where religious prejudice is a commodity and export using tax money.
I received a Vision 2040 survey. Whomever developed this survey (A Buffalo, New York company?)apparently assumed that all recipients in our city and county can read beyond the eight grade level, follows all the activities of the various branches of the city and county governments, attends every meeting of every agency, and is well-informed by local newspapers in Las Cruces, television stations in Las Cruces, and local radio shows. The usual sources of news of government agencies in other cities. The survey banner with its crosses shows the intent of exclusion of religious minorities and those non-religious citizens by the religious coverage promoted by the city and the county. Most of the questions are laughable and how much did this smoke-screen cost the city and county? Did I fill out the survey? No. One reason is the insulting religious symbols on the front page banner. The other reason is the survey is crap and meaningless. The decisions will be, and have already been, made by the money-boys, and possibly a few women, like the puppeteer Phillip Pue and the other ilk that are more concerned with their income than the quality of life of the citizens. Who approve this survey? Just who received the survey? Somewhere it said 1,600 copies were mailed out. That's not even 10% of the population. To whom? What zip codes? The Geography Department at NMSU could do a better job on the questions. The questionnaire is a pathetic attempt to plan the next 32-years future of the metropolitan area of Las Cruces. |

Good grief, minimum wage is good enough for a bagger. A long time ago I bagged groceries and loaded them for customers. It was a great job, considering I had little work experience and only a high school diploma. The only bad part was when the weather was bad, plenty of exercise and lots of friendly chatter with the community. Stop complaining and get a different job if you don't like the one you have, or finish college if you expect more than minimum wage.

Gheeeeez. What is wrong with you. it sounds like every living being is on your hit list. Why don't you give your anxiety a vacation by doing something to change your community.....like volunteer work. Boost your self esteem so you don't splatter your bile on everyone. There will always be those who are in power and ineffective. I doubt that you're the perfect model for humanity. I bet even you have been inconsiderate, put yourself first or had a personal agenda. But change never comes from rants like yours. Change comes from understanding an issue and
deciding how you can effect a solution to occur and taking action for change. I have done this with much success in my own community. Regardless of incompetent government members or funds that are not equitable. The main thing that would stop me from moving to Las Cruces would be if it was populated by rigid complainers like you. I'm sure you heard the trite but true saying....you can be part of the problem or part of the solution....it's your choice. |

Representative Joni Gutierrez, self-absorbed and ineffective? Is this the same legislator who has brought appropriations back to our district for the autistic, new parks and the students and staff of our University?
In fact Gutierrez is ranked 20th for bills passed out of 112 legislators statewide. Additionally she is a supporter of Obama. Remember to fact check before calling others delusional. |

I thought Americans had more respect for those who have to work hard to earn a living regardless of their job status. Not everybody is fortunate enough to go to college. Society needs all types of workers. They all deserve respect and decent wages to feed their families.
There are different ways of getting an education. One can also educate himself/herself informally, rolling up his/ her sleeves in his/ her community. Another way is to work and be good in something and learning on the job. By that I don't mean Obama learning on the job. A president needs to be ready from the very first day on the job. I finished college but I don’t like some of the Arrogant snubs that colleges produce. I have far more respect for that man or woman who do an honest day’s work by bagging, working on the farms, in the hard industries. Where would those college educated people be without the contributions of hard working people? |
|
|
Something to think about. What came first, the pig farm or the subdivision? Better yet, let's say I am a farmer who refuses to sell to developers. I want to continue on out in my little patch of heaven. But what do you know..for some odd reason land real estate taxes have been increased in my area so high that I can no longer afford to operate. Therefore I am forced to go out of business (to SELL). So you see Waldo, if one coverts what you have bad enough there is more than one way to skin the proverbial weasel. Don't always blame the landowners. Things may not always be as they appear.

I agree with you 100%. The person who made those disrespectful comments shares Obama/CNN mentality. They speak low of hard working Americans who have not gone or not have a chance to go to college. Have you watched how CNN international describes the folks in West Virginia. Their repetitive analysis lacks substance and portrays American voters who vote for Hillary Clinton as low class and uneducated. I think they are wrong. I have lived in America among working class Americans. They are far more considerate than CNN type of people. CNN news is worthless. Their reporters are embedded. They have traded their journalistic ethics for a free ride on the presidential plane to Dubai. They think they can get more free rides from Obama. Obama is a media puppet. They feed on each other. Neither Americans nor many of their senate representatives are to blame for the Iraq war. Disinformation. Bush and CNN are responsible. If a president relies on hand me down dodgy dossiers and the media misleads the people, they should be held accountable. |
