I'm pleased to see that the managing editor of the Las Cruces Sun-News has spoken out against Representative Steve Pearce's ongoing role as one of people in Congress who is likely to vote no on any bill to aimed at ending the "fiscal cliff" because of his opposition to a tax increase on income over $250,000 or even over $1 million.

However, I must respectfully point out the the Sun-News's managing editor that it it is nothing new for Rep Pearce to vote with the Tea Party faction of the House of Representatives on budget matters and to refuse to go along with any effort in Congress to reach necessary compromises. If it were up to Steve Pearce, there would have been a government shutdown n April of 2011. If it were up to Steve Pearce, Congress would not have raised the debt ceiling in July 2011 and our country would have defaulted on its debt.

Every voter in NM District 2 who reads the newspaper or watches the news knew when they voted in the November election knew that the fiscal cliff would have to be dealt with as soon as the 2012 elections were over. Anyone who knows anything about Rep Pearce knew that he and the other 50 Tea Party Representatives he associates with would stake out an extreme, uncompromising position that would make it difficult -- if not impossible -- to reach a compromise.

Given this, perhaps the managing editor of the Sun-News should acknowledge that the newspaper's editorial board made a serious error in judgement when it endorsed Rep Pearce only 8 weeks ago for a position where one of the key skills for the job is the ability to compromise. I'm not suggesting that the Sun News should have necessarily endorsed Mr. Pearce's Democratic opponent. It could have honestly said that it could not in good conscience endorse either candidate and call on both parties make an effort to give NM District 2 voters a better choice in 2014.

I think it is great that we have a Representative
of the all the people that voted him into
office - unlike the head clown in charge
Maobama who believes he only represents half of
the country yet demands we all listen to his
buffoon ideas that are responsible for the
decline of Amerika not the ascendency.

Take us over the cliff that is the only way
any cuts are going to come to this bloated
recipient class society we have built.

By the way Patricia - your the first to note that
a elected Representative only goes his way rather than the peoples - but you say nothing about
your chosen leader - Maobama and the mistake that
the S-c-u-m News made in endorsing the weakest
leader ever to be the head clown in charge.

No budget in 4 years to start with!
