Pennsylvania - another failing red state governor and legislature.
Except that Pennsylvania's unemployment rate is lower than the national average too. It's been dropping since Republicans have passed pro-business laws, and more importantly, BLOCKED anti-business laws put on the table by job killing Democrats.

Another reason you are ignorant of economic reality. Just like most liberals.

you are right. At my age I should be much more careful choosing the words to use in comments. I should have used the word anti-productive instead of unproductive since State Government's primary purpose is to stifle and undermine productivity in the private sector at every opportunity.

Yup. Right on the mark. Thanks for posting that. Republican Governors with Republican legislatures are overwhelmingly job creators, while Republican Governors with hostile Democratic legislatures have a tough time creating jobs. What's the difference? The Democratic legislatures. So, give Governor Martinez a pro-business, pro-job growth Republican legislature, and watch employment grow. Keep the status quo, and we will get more of what we have right now, stagnation.
Brilliant and Bravo! Couldn't have said it better!

BS. The cost of cleaning up water is much more than it costs to prevent pollution. Water is more valuable in the long term. Promoting extraction is a dead end. We should not be part of the race to the bottom. Those polluters will not be around when the shit hit the fan. The West is full of examples of abandoned messes left to the taxpayer to deal with.
Uhhhmmmmmm, dork! We ARE at the top of the race to the bottom! We rate darned near last in everything bad among the states. Perhaps, just sayin', we are doing a few things WRONG!

OK then. Please name the members of CONGRESS who are causing every gas and oil state to grow their economy, lower their unemployment rate, and steal jobs away from other states...but at the same time are stifling New Mexico's economy through anti-productive state laws. We'll wait.

Bullshit. NO one you know in state government is doing a job and a half. Most of them are sitting on their asses doing not much of anything. At least the Martinez appointees are being productive somewhere, in the private sector, since state government is such a shambles after Richardson/Denish that it will take years to recover.

Short term prosperity beats long term despair. Get it? No, I don't think you do. Liberals are incapable of thinking correctly.

The United States has EVERY resource necessary to provide jobs and goods for EVERY U.S. citizen. We have oil, gas, coal, nuclear, hydro-electric, solar, and wind energy. The problem is liberal America is blocking EVERY energy production method we have. Coal, oil, and gas? Obama and the liberals are blocking it. Wind? Liberals are suing wind energy companies because birds are flying into the turbines. Solar? Liberals don't want solar collection plants in the desert southwest, where the sun shines. And the ignorant bastards are blocking transmission lines everywhere because all of them are more worried about their view than the good of the nation. Timber? We got it. We've got more timber than we've had in a hundred years. Liberals would rather it burn every year in forest fires than cut it down to make lumber. Food? We could feed half the damn planet if liberals quit worrying about inconsequential fish, wetlands that ain't wet, and wilderness corridors that don't qualify as wilderness. Manufacturing? If government quit pandering to unions, and quit passing taxes and regulations that invite China and India to do our jobs for us, we could make EVERYTHING right here. Face it people. EVERY SINGLE ILL OUR NATION IS FACING CAN BE BLAMED UPON GOVERNMENT SCREWING AROUND WITH THE FREE MARKET. That is the truth, and I don't care if you like it.

this: State Government is a mindless, voracious leech sucking life from free enterprise in this state. Businesses have no reason to come to New Mexico and businesses already here are either shutting down or leaving.

That's easy. The fact that the United States exists, and was once the greatest economic powerhouse on the face of the planet..WITHOUT imports.

I forgot to mention minerals and metals. The United States has all that too. But the government since WW2 has legislated mining out of existence, through expensive over-regulation and outright prohibition of mining through land closures.

Happy Fourth of July! If you want to know what it really means, stop listening to Barack Obama, the Udalls, the Lujans, and other liberal politicians, and read the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution today.
