Now that the Cameras are gone, and the Crooked Company that ran them, let's not as the Mayors proposes go find another crooked vendor to set up new cameras. As it is well known that the camera industry as a whole are disreputable in their practices.
Instead let's take an approach that has been PROVEN TO WORK. Increase the Yellow Light by an additional 2-3 seconds regardless of what normal standards are,and make ALL RED for about 4-5 seconds. This has been shown time after time to drop the accidents to almost zero. It works so well that the Camera Companies have a clause in their Contracts NOT to allow it to be done.

Cost of doing this is almost nothing due to it only requires resetting the timers at the intersection. TRY IT! What have you got to lose? Do a couple of you worst intersections and do one of your little studies with them. When the results come in as good as they will, then re-time all of your intersections and you no longer have a Problem. Also you will not be out millions to Foreign Companies, and removing money from our economy. Remember how well that worked out with Red Flex? Also keep in mind that you are doing this for Safety not Revenue

As far as training a Driver who is caught where he or she does not have the distance to make a safe stop, and must go through now has a chance to do it safely, without speeding up and making it even a more dangerous situation. And yes no matter whether you are obeying the speed limit or not there is that dilemma in the laws of physics, and everyone at one time or another has been put in that spot. The Camera Companies count on this to issue tickets for Speeding rather then Red Light Running. This is where the Scam came in. This is shown in that most of the tickets are issued for Speeding rather then Red Light Running. The very way the system was designed was to make people speed to avoid getting a ticket. This is human nature, and they made a bundle off of it. Also trying to make people react in milliseconds is is insane and not possible. But that was being done too.
So Mr. Mayor let's quit with the hi tech schemes, and trying to fix a problem by hiring more get rich off the public vendors, and really solve the problem instead of making more Revenue off of it. You need more revenue then get it by honest means, and not selling Safety when it isn't going to happen that way.-30

Well said. Glad they cancelled the redscam contract, but disappointed they are considering another firm to take over. All the taxpayers are paying for law enforcement and traffic engineering already. They can do the job that needs to be done to keep the roads safe.

Both Invicta the Fake and Morrison the Shill...can kiss my Veteran ass.
When my wife and son were killed by a red light runner...I vowed to pursue all offenders in every place I live. That was 10 years agon.

I'm watching. Both of them better be 100% straight on their driving or no one will have to worry abut their ignorance or arrogance again. I promise.

And what's with the constipated Ancient Mariner -30- cuteness the watch clone Invicta uses? Is he from the Oldsmobile crowd or just a literary worthless being cute with some old symbol someone read to him? Bet he has a flag on his Pontiac, too, and wears a baseball cap...a lot.

Hose off both of the Teabaggers.

Donald McCoy? There's a real Don McCoy around, and he's not a nut case. You shouldn't be slandering that name. I think your second paragraph is a threat (except that we know you have no clue as to who Invicta and Morrison are, and say that.) Duh!
You come off as someone who hasn't taken your meds.

Also ... what's with the anger toward Invicta? He seems to be saying that if we have a problem with safety, we should try some approaches that keep Crucens' money in Cruces. We need it. We need the tax revenue and the jobs.
He's coming up with ideas that have worked other places, and seems to be interested in systems that are not likely to result in underhanded payroffs to people capable of implementing the camera system.
If you read you'll see that bribes are a big part of this red-light biz.
