Some will agree, some will agree in part and some will disagree with what the President had to say. The important thing is to get the discussion started. I give the President kudos for starting the discussion.

Immigration does not need reform. The lack of enforcement of existing law and deportation of illegals is what needs to be discussed.

I think I would do a bit more research on who actually took care of that little detail before giving Obama credit. As for Bush, Moses said the last time he talked to a "Bush", he spent 40 years wandering in a desert.

You should do some research if it's not too much of a challenge for you.

Obama pushes immigration reform in Texas speech

* Obama credited fewer illegals crossing the border with his border efforts when really it is because our economy is so bad there are fewer painting and roofing jobs.

What he has done is add agents but effectively still ties their hands with PC nonsense and even when deported (airfare courtesy of US taxpayers) many criminal illegals soon return here to break our laws and harm our citizens.

* Obama’s border speech had no new proposals and was more of a campaign speech with the same old blame the Republicans so he can get the Hispanic vote. It was a voter membership drive.

* He said, "One way to strengthen the middle class is to reform our immigration system, so that there is no longer a massive underground economy that exploits a cheap source of labor while depressing wages for everyone else," he said.”

Obama said we can’t afford an underground economy. With amnesty as an incentive, just as after Reagan granted amnesty to 3 million in the 80s, millions more would be encouraged to come here illegally ENSURING A PERMANENT UNDERGROUND ECONOMY. Why bother with immigration laws by entering the US illegally you will someday jump to the head of the line and be granted amnesty.

And his amnesty plans include their admitting they broke the law, paying a fine, applying for citizenship and learning English. So we will have millions of additional low income Americans (requiring social services) and millions of unskilled workers added to our already suffering economy and that is supposed to help the middle class?

Employers will be given the LEGAL right to hire these workers at minimum wage—workers who can live 20 people to a 2 room apartment instead of being paid the living wage that an American would be paid. Every time there has been an ICE factory raid, American’s have been lined up the next day for applications for jobs paying $10-12 per hour—the jobs Americans supposedly don’t want.

*“Obama also re-emphasized his support for the so-called DREAM Act, a priority from his first two years in office that would have created a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants brought to the US by their parents before the age of 16 provided they attend two years of college or join the armed forces. The legislation died after it failed to overcome a threatened Republican filibuster in the Senate back in December.

Republicans have repeatedly voiced objections to the DREAM Act, claiming it amounts to amnesty.”
Maybe because IT IS AMNESTY. And in a piecemeal effect, every young person who became legal via the Dream Act would be allowed to petition for MANY relatives. Third World Country here we come!

*‘Obama delivered his remarks just over the border from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, an epicenter of the violent drug trade that has threatened some US border towns. More than 3,000 people were killed in 2010 alone in Juarez, a city of 1.2 million inhabitants only three miles (4.8 kilometers) from El Paso.’

Gee, as a REAL show of support, maybe the Michelle Obama 100 Woman Vacation Entourage will vacation there for one of the Obama's many vacations.

America needs to take care of its own first and then worry about the immigrants! How can you expect the American public to take care of those on the outside when right now, with a trillion dollar deficit, we can't even take care of our own?! Get a GRIP!!!!!

I'm not talking about ranting on internet forums. I'm talking about serious discussion on a national level. I'm talking Congress. Lots of talk, no action. Let's get on with it.

The only reason the prez was out here in El Paso because of re-election. And didn't a lot of these people have to work whomever was at his little shindig there at the Chimizal? Who was picking up the slack for them? Wait a minute, these were the people who are unemployed and getting benefits, that's why they were there.

Don't you just love comparisons of legal, educated immigrants that helped the country get stronger economically. To those illegal, unskilled, uneducated law breakers and criminals. It's even funnier when they use the word lawbiding people when discribing illegals.
