I see no one in your area has the expertise to respond. While I certainly don't, my best advice is to focus on native plants. Trying to introduce evasive plants is detrimental to the environment, and waste water. This is especially true for the Southwestern U.S. region.Hello, I am from Arkansas where we have wonderful gardens because of the fertile soil. However I just moved here and I am unsure how to put in a garden. The ground seems hard and nothing seems to be growing on it. How do I make things grow?

Welcome to New Mexico, Leon. I would highly recommend you visit Enchanted Gardens on Avenida de Mesilla. Jackye specializes in native plants and is oh-so generous with helpful advice. Dona Ana County extension office and the master gardeners are also great resources.
