Yes! I was a major factor in Leadville's turn from reliance on the mining industry when all 3 of the mines shut down-and we had nothing left...except The History and ambiance of our Town! I asked my boss, Larry Andersen, realator and owner of the SaddleRock Supper Club, if I could make and wear a dress to match the era of the antique bar back I oiled each day. He said yes, and soon I was sewing custom made uniforms for all the wait staff, designed around the decor of Larry's place:mahogany paneling and rich burgundy carpeting led to skirts, tops and vests with matching aprons in calico and an 1800's flair! Patty McMahan, then owner of The Silver Dollar Saloon asked Larry if I could make her and her girls some saloon girl costumes-but he said no..."It would be a conflict of interest if I sewed for his competition" he said. But he eventually said Yes, and so we turned some of Patty's old ballroom dance gowns into costumes for her-and then the rest of the gals. Others were jumping in more and more-and our little Burro Race and Bed Scramble are National events now.

I no longer live in Leadville:sold my 1860's teagown to another waitress at the Silver King when I moved out of town. My children and I are in Denver now-but I want so desperately to help all of Colorado create-or recreate a more Authentic Heritage and Agri Tourism for the Future-and the present.

Please-if I can help you or your small town come up with unique ideas-and I am trained by the State to help others develope Home and Small Business ideas into actual services and products, quickly, and understandably:2 hours and a lined notebook-that's all you need:and the Building a Home Busioness on a Shoestring Budget & a Prayer! me at [email protected]

I am a volunteer seamstress for the Colorado Historical Society, 5th Honorary Kiltmaker for the Scottish St Andrew Society, past Seamstress of Referrance for the Colorado Renaissance Festival:site personna and the Royal Weddings, took Honorable Mention in Gettysburgh for Ladies Day wear1989-and do just about all the "old" crafts:tatting, crochet, antique quilt repair, embroidery, beadwork, leather/feather work...etc.
