I need to my change insurance companies for home and auto-recommendations?

[need advice]

I have my home owners and auto policies with a branch of Nationwide Insurance right now and I'm happy with the agent I have, who is very unresponsive and prefers not to speak with me. I would really like to change companies but don't know where to begin. I'm afraid of making another bogus choice and ending up in the same or a worse place. Please give me your thoughts and recommendations.
