Saturn produced great automobiles. In 1991 I bought a new SL1. With that four cylinder engine it had great passing power and I got 30+ miles to the gallon. The ride
and handling could not have been better. While on vacation and driving in Minnesota two deer jumped out in front of us and the great brakes stopped within inches of one and the other ran into the drivers side and slid the length of that side. As it was pitch dark we drove to the nearest rest stop to survey the damage. To our surprise there was blood but not even a slight paint scratch. I bought a new 2003 Vue and could not be more pleased. Saturn failed not because of the product but because GM moved from the original concepts. Saturn did not commit suicide. GM murdered it! |

Poor Saturn! Sounds like they were making pretty good cars. Why was GM so bent on destroying itself?

Yes Saturn can be saved, in my opinion. The car business is a very complex and all pieces are not in control of the Auto company IE Dealers.
Venture firms tend to tinker and control too much and what this business needs is people doing their jobs and being creative and not creating reports. I have worked with a number of venture firms....Maybe Black Oak is different, you never know. Visit Savingpontiac.org |

yes, if opel can break free from gm, it can keep building good cars, build them in canadian factories that gm closed, and sell them as saturns in the states. everyones happy. well, no because gm would then go head to head with them here in the states.
see, the big lie is that gm doesnt want tech to go to russia, where they sell their crap too. but the real problem is here, the dealer network is already there, the cars will be north american made, german design, and much less overlap. this would make saturn a direct competitor to chevy. and once opel stops supplying gm with tech. gm will start selling rebadged korean cars as their own. oh, wait. |

GM cars down 45% last month there best car in this depression is the Cadillac and now they are killing Saturn. Brilliant.
The Government and GM deserve each other. |

This brand once had so much promise, as this article well conveys.

Saturn doesn't, correct that, didn't make great cars, they were AWESOME! I've owned two, a 2002 SL2 and a 1994 SL1, the latter still on the road. You can't kill these cars. Both have well over 200,000 miles. They are fun to drive, ecconomical, and were working on green. What more do you want in a car?
You're right. GM murdered Saturn's potentially great electric car in the 90's and they murdered the entire line now. We need these cars. |

I own a 94saturn sl1 with 220,000+mi on the clock and it's still running strong, 37.7 miles/gal and very easy maintenance. This is my second saturn. I love my Saturn. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Saturn.....Oh yea, I forgot, no profit in quality. Yes, GM, it's all about the benjamins. Will someone please save Saturn?
