I sat down last nite and emptied a bottle of Don Pedro. I then had an epiphany! It struck me...imagine if Tommy Brown and his Todd Stroger bully boys had won the election...can you imagine the chaos that Blue Island would be in now? I shiver at the thought.
It made me sober as a priest!

So what! Chicago City workers had to take unpaid furloughs and other unpleasant things to keep their jobs. No sympathy here.

October Crash Predicted

"The talk of the financial town right now is how the market has entered into a recovery period. Gives you a nice, toasty feeling, doesn't it?

Well, not so fast. October is a historically temperamental time on Wall Street and, while some people believe the market is going to keep climbing higher, others are terrified it will sink like a stone.

If I were a betting man, I'd say the market will likely crash in October."

The Dow fell 249.85, or 2.5 percent, to 9,712.73, its lowest close since Oct. 5. It was the Dow's biggest one-day percentage drop since July 2 and left the index with a meager gain of 0.005 percent for the month.
The broader S&P 500 index fell 29.92, or 2.8 percent, to 1,036.19, its biggest percentage loss since July 2. The Nasdaq dropped 52.44, or 2.5 percent, to 2,045.11.
Six stocks fell for every one that rose on the New York Stock Exchange, a virtual reversal of the tide that swept stocks higher Thursday when the government said the economy grew faster than expected in the summer.

Jewel has been struggling financially for years, the property on 127th is part of a number of Jewel properties in a liquidation sale.

I would call that a vacant building - the building at 119th and Vincennes Rd is a good example of an abandoned building.

No offense, but BI has enough problems without adding a homeless shelter to the mix.

The Jewel owned building is not abandoned; it is not in disrepair, the property taxes are paid and they are unwilling to sell to anyone wanting to put in a grocery store.
