Speeding through Tamaqua cost a Lansford man in more ways than one on Saturday.
An officer was on patrol at 12:27 p.m., monitoring traffic on Broad Street, when he observed a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am traveling at a high rate of speed. The car was stopped in the 800 block of East Broad Street and the driver identified as David Pallavinci, 53, of 537 E. Patterson St., Lansford. When the driver opened the car window, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana. Pallavinci admitted smoking a joint earlier. He was given and failed three field sobriety tests. After being taken into custody, he was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South for blood testing. The tests were positive for marijuana. Pallavinci was cited for speeding, traveling 44 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. |
