Montco site in Mendelson bribery case figures in lawsuit

A year before federal prosecutors filed charges against Mark Mendelson over his attempts to purchase a former Montgomery County flea market, a Lansdale-based landscaper filed suit in Lehigh County against him over the same property.

Gregory S. Thompson says in the lawsuit that Mendelson first offered him work, then pitched a partnership in a new redevelopment business with ''access to much bigger projects with bigger profit margins.''

Instead, the suit alleges, Mendelson took more than $1.1 million under the guise that it was going to the new company, and Thompson got nothing. Filed in November 2006, the suit claims fraud and breach of contract against Mendelson. Read more
