A Catholic college in Philadelphia says it has fired a part-time professor after learning from a post on his blog that he has been in a same-sex relationship for a decade and a half, which officials called contrary to church teaching. Full Story

"...which officials called contrary to church teaching". Well they should also teach the Priests this lesson as well!

At least they are not hypocritical. Nah, just kidding. They really are. All altar boys' orifices should be sealed with plumber's caulk.

After centuries of facilitating the pedophilic adventures of its gay priests, the Catholic Church is a tad squeamish when it comes to gayness.

So the Church is damned if they and damned if they don't?

I agree that the priests got off easy. They should have all been fired.

But that doesn't mean the church should go easy on everyone from now on. The hypocrit arguement is weak.
Ex:
I know a guy who got 3 DUIs and served no jail time. So if someone else gets three DUIs we shouldn't give him jail time because the other guy didn't get any.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The three companies that insure the majority of Protestant churches in America say they typically receive upward of 260 reports each year of young people under 18 being sexually abused by clergy, church staff, volunteers or congregation members.

Protestant numbers have been harder to come by and are sketchier because the denominations are less centralized than the Catholic church; indeed, many congregations are independent, which makes reporting even more difficult.

Child sex abuse by Protestant clergy may exceed abuse by Catholic priests

----------
My point is child molestation is not a unique problem to the RCC. It also happens to other churches in evangelical/protestant and baptist churches. As a matter of fact, there maybe even more child molesters in non-catholic churches. Here is the Associated Press report on the subject:

And that's just a few, there are many many more. It's far worse than in the Catholic Church.
And in the secular population it's worse still.
Yea, keep up the denial, as they do in Rome!

Just like most people, Mr. Shenanigans will bury his head in the sand and pretend that the only Ministers that do bad things are Catholic priests. You will notice that he didn't even check out the websites I gave him. Just like people who cover their ears and chant "ya ya ya ya ya ya", Shenanigans covers his eyes and pretends all is well with the Protestants.

Oh, and by the way, I thought you Protestants didn't believe in calling anyone on earth "father". Mmmmmm?

One has to be careful what they put on their blog. Moreso private colleges are free to set criteria as to whom they hire or do not hire. The Catholic Church has a teaching in regards to practicing homosexuals. You want to work in their college, you follow their rules.

It's like the Moose, BSA, or KFC. Each has guidelines and policies.

A very valid point to be sure. Why do people insist on confusing homosexuality with pedophilia. These are two very different things.

The RCC continues to do irreparable damage to all homosexuals; I truly believe that the church (even if unknowingly) gives some hateful/self-righteous people justification for gaybashings. However, since it was a Catholic institution, I do believe they had the right to fire this person, sad as it seems. I just wish the church would CEASE trying to make the rules for the entire population - they have NO RIGHT to do that!

They probably fired him due to their own sinful temptations.

Although I disagree with this homophobic decision, I do agree that a private religious institution, that receives no government funds has the Constitutional right to hire and fire whoever, or whatever group it chooses, if he/she/they violate the institutions core values, and are not under contract (they being "employee(s) at will"). I am not an attorney, but I believe that the above discrimination is legal. The "here comes the lawsuit" stuff is retarded.

Question: Does the Catholic church want ALL gays fired? They don't want them to work and support themselves?? What a horribly evil institution!

Want to see evil? Look at the evil that homosexual priests did to the kids, lady.

Get a grip why don't you? Why would a homosexual want to work for the Catholic Church anyway? I tell you why, so they can infiltrate it, infest it, and change it, that's why.

No thanks, want a job? Go to the local beauty parlor.
