When fun is taken out of the educational process learning is reduced as well. This is a problem at CMS.

I have taught in both systems Coalfield and Wartburg. Coalfield sports especially football comes first. Wartburg academics is first and foremost. What do you want for your child?
The key word for you is have taught. You must not be a current teacher at Coalfield, because with the new leadership in place there now, they are putting the greatest emphasis on academics like it should be. They also support their athletics. You can have great academics and athletics, but it starts with the administration.

We have had great academics at Wartburg and very good sports teams at the same time. Problem is the program from Elem. to H.S. is fractured. The reason basketball is good is they have good coaches throughout and they are stable. Football is like a revolving door new coach every few years. Academics suffers also due to the lack of cooperation between the three schools. I really don't remember this being a problem in the last Admin. in the Central Office. Mike knew how to run a system!

Chris Morrison is the coach, I was told he's also a teacher at OS. Don't matter how good he is, he's never gonna have the principal supporting the football team. She took their bus from them, to get to and from the games. Team went over her head and got it back. I wish CMS could get their football program going good again but I'm afraid as long as the head witch Summer is there, it ain't gonna happen.

Why is the county and school board letting her have her way and get away with so much?

To everyone that's talking about the problems at cms. And not really knowing what's going on. I am not a Sumner fan just so that we r all clear on that. She does not nor will she every support the football team. I agree something has to be done about her but who r we kidding look who is in charge of the schools. Dozen is one of the biggest mistakes the school board ever made. The answer is not move your kids to coalfield it is to support them in whatever it is they win or loose. Besides if tssaa ever came to coalfield and check physical addresses on all the players they would find that some of them do not live coalfield area.

Sports is good for kids to interact and even help with staying fit. Maybe some of these people not supporting the football team should try some type of sport.

And they would also find that those that don't live in the Coalfield area and outside of Morgan County pay tuition to attend. Jealous are we?

If Wartburg can't beat Oakdale, that is definitely a problem. Wartburg always beats Oakdale.

Oakdale's middle school team used to stink every year, they must have just had a fluke season last year. What do they look like this year?

They were 6 and 2 last year and they are 5 and 2 now.
Two former coachs from cms started coaching at Oakdale last year and they have made a team out of them.

One retired from coaching 4 or 5 years ago, the other left when this happened.
