We tried this City of Lebanon pay to park deal and it was a total waste. We actually received a numbered spot that was reserved only for our vehicle. Once a week or more another vehicle was already parked in our rented parking spot. You had to waste your time calling the Lebanon Police and they would put a ticket on the unauthorized car, but you were out of luck getting your parking spot and where still driving around looking for another spot on the street.

The City of Lebanon and Lebanon Police Department are so afraid of a lawsuit they won't have an unauthorized vehicle towed out of this Lebanon City lot.

This is another great concept that just ends up being a scam for the students. Students will pay $40 dollars to the City of Lebanon and you still won't be guaranteed a parking spot.

It's cheaper and far less hassle just to buy parking tokens and park at the meters.

hey genius if you want a car towed out of your rented/private spot all you have to do is call a tow company. I own a private lot and do it on a weekly basis. Your another one who doesnt do anything on their own and then place the blame (this time on the police department) for not doing it FOR YOU. take some responsibility

I totally agree with hmmm all the money HACC makes a semester there's NO reason for not having a parking garage for the students. I am a student and it's ridiculous driving around for 15-20 minutes to find a parking spot and most of the time it's blocks away. This is unsafe when you have night classes and not to mention you end up being late for class and missing part of the lecture you paid for. It seems to me that the safety of the students isn't a priority for HACC.

how is it dangerous at nite when you are walking through town to your car? i use to do it all the time and theres nothing dangerous about it. For your problem with finding a space if you come a few minutes early then gurantee you can find at least 20 spaces open. The parking garage is a good idea but with the space they have and the bus terminal that cant be done...or so i have been told...and whats the big deal having to walk a few blocks away? if you go early and theres not space in the lot then park on the side and you wouldnt be late meters after 5 are free so i still dont understand whats wrong here? are you just that spoiled that walking down the street is bad for you or something?

HACC like the Good Sam should have had a little foresight and built their campus's where there was parking.....

Read the article again: it is a study. Doesn't mean that it is going to stay that way. Who knows, maybe the Mayor will use the increased revenue to plow the city streets!

they should have more closer parking for those that can't walk very far due to a disability.

And for those who need to get to class... We're supposed to wait how long for a vehicle towed so we can park in our rented spot? I place the blame on inconsiderate twa%s

What would also help is if people would stop being inconsiderate morons and pull up to the car in front of them or back up to the car behind them.

Most of the time people just park wherever they feel like, failing to realize they have left a huge space behind or in front that, if they parked with more consideration, you could get one more vehicle parked there as well.

BUT NOOOOOOOO.....they must make sure that nobody else can park on the street because they can't seem to grasp the concept that they aren't the only people on the friggin' planet.

While the parking permits are a nice addition the main problem is that they are not selling these permits per available parking spaces. While it is understood that you are not buying a specific space, you are not even buying a gaurentted parking spot in the alotted permit areas. So students are paying $40 (if they choose to go with this plan) with the risk that when they show up for class all permit spaces could be filled and they would have to park elsewhere anyway. If this happens on a regular basis then what is your $40 going towards? I feel that if you are going to start a program like this, even in pilot format permits should be sold based on the amount of available spaces.
It's a good idea, but could be better.

Have you read the police blotters lately? I guarantee you there's not 20 open spots a few minutes before class cause, I've often spent more than 20 minutes driving around the parking lot looking for a spot to park. HACC's students are not the only ones that park in that lot and on side streets.

I am also a student at HACC and the lighting is horrible at night. The security guards are at least walking around outside now when the classes that end at 9:30PM let out. The parking always has been and more then likely always will be an issue. Chalk it up to the desire to attend a school in the middle of the city.

!!!! The poor students. Gee, they have to maybe walk a little, the poor things. I wonder what they are gonna think when they get out in the real world and have to make a living,,maybe they will have to walk again. Maybe they can go to their employers and bitch, than we will see what happens. But no, they will have their diploma from some rinky dink city college.

Thomas, give these kids a break.

They are busting their asses to earn a degree so they can land a lucrative job at Burger King.

I am a student at HACC and I am closer to 30..and I worry about leaving class late and having to walk to my car if I can't get a close spot. So it's not just young kids complaining about walking far. What about safety for students? Another thing that free parking lot is crazy, someone almost parked in front of me so I couldn't pull into a spot.. So maybe HACC should look into a way of fixing the problem
