Kaplan Medical opened it's doors to the public this past Monday! When inquiring what the practice was going to be, the reply was Family Practice & General Wellness.
I was told that he specialized in Family Practice and Chronic Pain.
Anyone else have info?
They are located across the street from the New Energy Fitness Center on Monmouth Drive.

So is this a pill mill? Anyone know the scoop? He came from Portsmouth, and thats not a good sign or a good thing to have on your resume.

What do doctors normally give patients for treatments? I guess anyone in pain is supposed to get a freak'n lolly pop! He did treat pain and he still does but, he is doing away with it even though he is an accredited member of the American Academy of Pain Management. He is going to family practice because of all the negative drama for trying to help those in pain. He worked at a treatment center that only accepted referrals and barely saw 15 or so patients a day. He just got stuck in the stigma because of the BS going on in Portsmouth! There were and are places there that seen 100's a day.
So my point is, he is Legit and his office is and he never was associated with a PILL MILL!

What's going on in Portsmouth is not BS but a tragedy of inhumane proportions. Good riddance to this one. You all better watch him. Look at the license plates in his parking lot. Do people seem to come from other states? Do they carpool? Are they mostly young? Does he have admission rights at a hospital? Is he cash only? He will talk a good line. Alert your pharmacists.

Good Riddance to jump the gun and ignorance! He was 3 miles from Kentucky, and 30 miles from West Virginia, don't you think Doctors send referrals that far? I know people that go to Columbus for all kinds of medical care! Tell me one, just name one person who has ever had an overdose from Doctor Kaplan! Thats right, you can't! He left your town because of the other pill mills and ther negative BS! He still treats the patients he had wether out of state or not. Its called "contiuance of care". He no longer accepts any new out of state patients because he is 80 miles from the nearest State. Your type is the reason I no longer have a job! There was never ever nothing illegit at his old place of employment! They didn't have lines of people, they were so strict you had to see an ex-member of law enforcement prior to being accepted even! No need to explain any further, just stay in your deprived and corrupt town!

The owner of that place owned one in Florida to! KSP thought the owner was treating the same patients at both places at the same time! Wrong!
Dr. Kaplan is a good doctor so climb back in your cave and quit spreading lies!

Good luck trying to find a pharmacy to fill rx's from this doctor. I work in a pharmacy in Lancaster and every time we see a prescription from him we conveniently "don't have it in stock". Especially when the customers bringing in the rx's have a Porstmouth or Wheelersburg address. We are not stupid.

Let me get this right, so if these people that are bringing in there RX's have PCP referrals and proof that they need to be on pain medication , you simply lie to them? That's what is wrong with this whole situation! People that need help are drivin to drastic preportions and when they have to, let's say "travel out of state to get help" then they're just drug addicts, huh? Pharmacist actually need to get to know the Doctor and or pain clinics before jumping on a bandwagon and judging them!
So what your saying is that the Doctor by doing his due diligence and accepting referrals from PCP's and Specialist only is also considered a Pill Pusher? Unbelievable!
That's exactly why Doctor Kaplan is going to Family Practice and for the most part it is the exact reason Doctors are afraid to help someone in pain! Pharmacist do not get to view the patients charts and neither does law enforcement but, they sure as hell pass judgement as if they have verification to do such!
Rediculous!!!

IF he came from Portsmouth it's not a good thing. Portsmouth is the heart of welfare recips and bums who spend all their (or our) money on drugs. Portsmouth, Ohio is the most corrupt of any county in Ohio by far. The police, sheriff, prosecutors, judges and Court system are dangerous. Frame ups of innocent citizens are not uncommon...

Okay so what is it? Is Portsmouth the heart of the problem or is the system corrupt????
Portsmouth has more "pain clinics" then any other county in Ohio. We don't need one here.
We have a huge opiate problem in Fairfield County!

No credible doctor would actually refer someone to go to a pill mill. If you are in "real pain" go to a "real doctor". Go to an E.R.- if you are in that much pain maybe you need to be in a hospital. These pain medications were developed strictly to treat pain following surgery, when you have a CURRENT broken bone, are going through chemotherapy, and such. If there is a real problem, credible doctors don't have a problem with writing prescriptions for these drugs. And just to add, pharmacies, doctors, and law enforcement DO have access to medical records - it's called OARRS. The program allows doctors and pharmacies to have access to records of all doctors appointments a patient has gone to and to all prescriptions that a patient has had filled anywhere in the state. If you knew what you were talking about you would have known this.

Trust me I know what OARRS and Kasper is! Obviously you don't! Number one, all you can do is pull an RX history! Number two, you are unable to see why there recording these types of meds unless you request them from the Doctor.
Which you obviously are judging before you even ask!
Also, yes Doctors send referrals to pain clinics which again you are clueless!
Also by your lack of knowledge, I'd guess your just a rx tech if that!
Try asking for proof or just getting to know your Doctor or patient before judging someone! It's much easier for one to pass judgement until they actually see some of these REAL patients without there medication or to see some die and to have die in pain!
Seen a patient with stomach cancer try to get medications filled for 3 months! They died! Only relief was hospice in the last 3 weeks of there agonizing pain because of judgmental pharmacies!

I agree! Portsmouth has a major, major epidemic! This doctor did not work for an excon, he did not see 100's of patients and also and undoubtably used OARRS and prescreened all patients! He is a good doctor! He served his country, and took an oath! The problem is he nor any pain management physician even has a fair chance in Ohio right now! As soon as a pharmacist see's any pain medication prescription they automatically look at the patient and judge them! How does a pharmacist look at an individual and determine that they don't need a specific medication in a blink of an eye when a trained physician spends over 20-30 minutes each and every month with documentation and test in front of them! They don't, they just assume that it's a Pill Mill!

Dr. Kaplan has elected to convert his practice to Family Medicine! He will not see a Pain patient unless they have the proper referrals, period! Within 5-6mos or so, he will not even be treating intractable pain patients unless a pharmaceutical company releases a new drug that is almost none abusive(not likely). I'm sure he will be treating acute and minor pain though, as family doctors do! He will however still treat for drug detox. So no need for people to get their panties in a knot, he has elected to QUIT treating major pain patients!
END OF STORY!

If these doctors are so legit then why have the only pharmacies that did accept these rx's get raided, shut down, and the pharmacist went to jail. Tell me that one!

Miss Rx is Right On the money. Regular doctors can treat pain, and plenty of other things. There is no reason for pill pushing doctors, other than to addict and provide patients with pills to sale to addict others and to generate money to pay for their next cash visit to the pill doctor. These places are a scam and any good doctor would be able to make a good honest living being a good honest doctor.
