Did we make a good hire ? Is he the right guy for this job? If not who would make that decision we do not have a AD right now.

I am not doubting that he is okay if not as good as we could have had but I will say that they did not give John Hodge a try and the last I knew Boyle was just as successful as Madison Central.

Our coach was an assistant for Madison Central and John is and has been an assistant for Boyle for over 5 yr. Why could we not at least interview or give a shot to a hometown boy?

I never understood why they didn't give John the middle school job years ago after he did so well the year he did coach them.

John Hodge was interviewed for the job. Fact is that he is not ready to be a head coach as he hasn't even been a coordinator of offense or defense. Would have made a good middle school coach though.

He is the right man for the job. The Lions are a young team, and the season isn't halfway done yet. They have had some tough breaks this season and as soon as the team has a couple of losses, people start questioning whether the head coach is the right fit or not. It is the same people who will call for Rich Brooks' head once UK starts losing some football games.

Give the man a chance. He is in his 2nd season with a team that is very young...half the team are freshmen.

I didn't realize that "WE" did the hiring. I thought there was a superintendent that did that.

Not knocking the present coach, you have to give him some time. Rome wasn't built in a day. He will be fine but I also do not believe he was a co-ordinator at Central. I think he coached the offensive line but I may be wrong. I also believe Hodge might have brought a stronger staff along with him.

I believe Scenters was a coordinator at Berea so he had experience. The problem is most of the guys on the field aren't really that young. More than half of the starters are seniors. Many of those are 4 or 3 year starters. There are many freshmen on the team, but most of the guys playing are seniors.

There are a total of 10 seniors on the team and there are quite a bit of underclassmen (freshmen & sophomores) that play most of the minutes. There are 2 sophomores @ linebacker, a couple of freshmen that rotate in and out on the d-line, a freshman starting @ d-end, and a couple of soph's who are in the defensive backfield. You couple that with a freshman quarterback, sophomore fullback, a freshman starting tackle, and freshmen and sophomores who rotate in and out at wide receiver and slot back.....i would call that a young team. Sure there are 3 and 4 year starters who are seniors who are very valuable, but not enough of them to call this year's Golden Lion team an experienced, veteran team. That is why Coach Scenters has had to call on so many younger guys to step right in and play.

Give the Golden Lions some time....things will turn around. The season is still young.

ray, hounshell, shoemaker, demarcus, webb, smith, peek, naylor, fred hayes are all seniors who are starters. I think I am even leaving a couple out. I believe 6 of those start on offense and 6 start on defense. Maybe more if I am leaving someone out.

Forgetting Dylan Teague. He starts at corner or at least he did early in the year.

You can't win without a solid defense. Rowan County beat Estill 60-6. Garrard beat Rowan 42-35. The game aganist Estill was embarrassing. They were not prepared and there was no fire in the team. The coach needs to do something to improve the defense. He doesn't seem to be able to make adjustments to stop the opposing team. Somebody is doing a lousy job.
Somerset will beat the bejeabers out of them. It will not be a pleasnt night for the Lions.

i understand that my son has good potencial...but he is only gonna be as good as HE wants to be...he has to have the desire and drive to strive and be great at whatever he does...there WERE other reasons for him quitting the team last year other than coaches and players....we were in the process of moving and looking for a place to live....but i do have just one thing to say....it takes a whole team being a family and playing together AS A TEAM...to win..if the coaches ans staff can get that to happen with that team next year....THE SKYS THE LIMIT...and there will be nothing that team can't achieve !!
