Because he wanted to ride the entire route before getting off the bus.

Wow, I just saw this, and it makes me angry. I think you should be more informed before you make derogatory comments. Cook showed up at Mt. Hebron church one Sunday, on his bike. We invited him in, and after church we drove him home, bike and all. This became routine, with my family driving him home, to other member's driving him home. Then he got too old to ride his bike, as simple as that, so either a church member would pick him up for church, or the church bus would. Many a time, Cook, who was like a child, would come filthy, and didn't smell the best, one of the ladies in church would take him into the church bathroom and wash his face and hands. No one ever said anything about the way he smelled. Church members checked on him regularly. He got sick, and it became clear that he didn't need to be on his own anymore, and so he went to the nursing home, where he died last year. I don't know why people are so quick to judge, maybe you should take a look at yourself, if you were so worried about him, why didn't you do something for him? And by the way, Tex followed Mt. Hebron's former pastor and his adoptive family to their new church. We love Tex, and no, he is not the only black person that goes to Mt. Hebron.
