Anyone else have problems with Lancaster Veterinary Center in Lancaster, KY? Darren Taul, the veterinarian there has consistently overcharged us for services, added items to our bill without our consent, and not given medicine to our dogs while they were boarding. We have spoken to several others in the community that have had the same types of problems and just wondered if anyone here has had this happen to them? If you're considering using this vet, I would strongly advise against it...I would also NOT recommend the groomer there either (Shaggy Dog Pet Grooming).

Agree whole heartedly...go somewhere else... this place LOVES to squeeze every dime and nickel out of ya and don't provide competent services on top of it. I recommend Stanford Vet Clinic or Nash in Danville...there are probably some other good ones out there but these are the only two that I am familiar with.

Dr. Laughlin has been my vet for 30 plus years for all our livestock, dogs, cats, whatever. I can highly recommend his services. He is very reasonably priced, and a fine man as well.

Yeah i don't recommend taking any dog to get groomed to the shaggy dog pet grooming, She charged me 56.00 to cut my dogs hair.. ang hacked him up big time ! if u have a shih tzu please don't take your dog here. And her reply when i saw my shih tzu was its only hair it will grow back !!!! So shows right there she doesn't know what shes doing. And even if your dog doesn't have fleas she will charge you for the medicene as she did me .

We also had trouble with Dr. Taul. We moved here about 2 yrs ago and took our german shepherd to him for her annual check up and shots. First, I want to tell you that this dog has the most wonderful, gentle personality and has been socialized since we got her at age 6wks. Anyway, he acted irriated that we even brought her there and then in an annoyed manner grabbed her legs to check for hip movement. He grabbed her left leg and pulled it in an abnormal position and she whimpered. Since that time she has limped and can barely get up from a sitting position. Prior to that because she's a big dog, we had done everything to prevent injury to her hips, like preventing her from jumping. She had never had an injury to her hips nor had she ever limped and had decreased activity. We absolutely depise Taul for what he did to her. We have no children and she is like our child. It breaks our heart to watch her walk and try to run and struggle to get up off the floor. She had never been treated so roughly or in such a annoyed, irritated fashion. We will NEVER go back there and if you have a dog, avoid the office altogether---he is a cat person, not a dog person. Incidentally, he took very good care of our cat with a severe injury, but it was really pricy!

where is he located? My mom takes our dogs to the vet center and because she has a credit card, they have managed to find things that need done that seems unreal to me. I feel they take advantage of her love for her animals. I would love to see her take them somewhere else.

Dr.Laughlin practices right at his home. He has a clinic right there beside the garage. He is located on old 27 going down to the Kentucky river in northern Garrard county. It's off the road a little. He actually does everything he can to SAVE you money! Look in phone book under James A Laughlin DVM.

I'm fairly new to the area and don't know how to get to Dr. Laughlin. Can you give me more details on the way to locate him? Thanks

Dr. Taul is nice enough, but his prices are outrageous. It doesn't cost that much for PEOPLE to go to the doctor! My dog had a 15 minutes follow-up appointment after being treated for an injury, and I was charged $170 for the visit. I told the staff that I would not be back. I now go to the Animal Medical Center in Danville. The prices at LVC are highway robbery!

From Lancaster you turn right before you to get to camp nelson hill, onto old HWY 27, like you are going down to camp nelson swimming pool. There is a log cabin on the corner.
Then you take a right onto Laughlin Way, if you get to the pool you went too far. Once your on Laughlin Way, you go all the way to the back of the road till you reach his house. He has vet signs nailed up to the trees kinda pointing the direction.
He is the best!!!!

I have used the shaggy dog and I think she is a great groomer. I would refer everyone I know and meet to go there!!!!!

On three occassions, Dr. Taul has saved the lives of my pets. When we had to have one of our pets put to sleep, he sent us a personally written card of condolence. When our seventeen year old dachshund died, he also sent us a card of condolence. He periodically calls just to check up on our elderly pets.

Perhaps he is expensive, but my dogs have survived cancer, auto immune disorder, and parvo. That is worth a great deal to me.

I have always used DR. Oliver, in Stanford...just across from Sonic.
They are reasonable on price and great with pets.
You can also adopt pets there. We have adopted many cats there.
