it's very hard to believe that crime is slightly up and the reason is most of the crimes goes unreported and specially by the only Antelope Valley Local Newspaper. It's very sad that the public are not getting the true I said it once an I say it again juts last week they caught a pimp and some 20 or 32 of his prostitutes working out on a local motel in Lancaster. It has been some killings including the three elderly people that got run over by an Antelope Valley Transit Authority,on Palmdale Blvd and 10th St. W . What ever happen to the bus driver WHO KNOWS the victims were LATINAS so who cares wright? WRONG.
The bottom line we are not getting the facts from the Antelope Valley Press nor the Sheriff public reports.
Any questions?
Sincerely,
Francisco Prieto Jr.

What does them being Latinas have to do with anything? Are you trying to imply that nothing is going to happen to the bus driver because of their race? The paper reports alot more than you seem to realize.

Our local paper sucks! It paints a pretty picture for everyone to believe it's a wonderful place. But in reality this area has gone to Hell!!@!The crime is none stop. Just get a scanner and hear whats going on. Our sheiff dept is running 24/7 handling these morrons. God bless them for what they do!

Antelope Valley became a cesspool beginning in the 90's. Back in the 80's when there were only 30,000 people was when it was a nice place. With the low cost of housing back in the day, it brought all the scum from LA, SFV, and everywhere else in between. The prostitutes were there way back in the 80's. They still haven't rid the problem? Sad. Too many people and crime, not enough cops.

Big mistake!!! Burbank is still pretty decent, but you have North Horrowood right next door, and the creeps from there are trying to bring it down.

First of all everyone here needs to learn how to spell. second it's no secret palmdale is not the best place whether it be east or west side. there's obviously not enough cops all you have to do to realize that ask yourself "should i let my kids out after dark?". when you have to question that our kids should not even be there. Get a productive job and make some money and get you and your family out of there... also there's section 8 thats been aloud there for a while now so there's something else to deal with also. good luck to all!

If you're going to criticize others for their spelling at least make sure you spell allowed right.

If you put the pimps, gangs, low test scores, Section 8, racism, croked cops, Amber Alerts, and violent/deadly crimes aside, Paldmale/Lancaster area is a great place to live!

We have a community College, Fairgrounds, Anual Poppy Festivals, Performing Arts & Concerts around, plenty of schools, etc.

Not to mention the range of churches out here for religious folk.

Then again, if you consider the Earthquake that's coming up, maybe it's not the best place..

We became the dumping ground for those paroling out. The houses were cheap, section 8 was easy to get so they all came out here. I even saw on NAT GEO one little LA gangbanger saying he wanted to come to the AV to get out of the gangs. So, they just bring thier f-uped mentality with them.

Why not quit become part of a solution rather than ranting constantly about how bad it is?
Things will not change without those people who realize that change needs to occur, taking action and getting involved in a solution.
Get off the boards and get productive in finding solutions. Form neighborhood watch groups, go to your city counsel meetings over and over until they help you find what each individual can do to remedy the wrongs here.

Why do people always assume that because we rant, we are not doing anythng. I do plenty just by working in the prison with hese guys. I try to find out why they do the thigs they do so maybe we can stop it. So far however I have not been able to find out why. But I will keep trying, I will not give up on the AV. It was once a quite safe place o live, if we all fight together we can have that again.

That is the point of my original post, EXACTLY!
Each concerned person has to be willing to ACT in some organized fashion with others living here to correct what is wrong

Rape and murder went up. So instead of being concerned about getting robbed, we just have to worry about getting raped and murdered. I wonder what would the stats be if they compared it to before the gangbanger scum moved up here.

I would like to say that the OP was right about the press not reporting everything. But they have to be "informed" of crimes to report them.
I grew up here my whole life and I have to say it's gone down hill. It used to be a decent place to raise a family but not anymore. There's so much crime and the police over look most of it.
My daughter goes to a decent school but I keep her on a short leash and I don't let her out after dark.

So that's where all the "brothas" from South Central went when the Mexicans invaded L.A.

Yes and the Mexicans are here too. so we have a lose lose situation. Unless of course they do to each other what they have been doing in LA.
