The avrcd board members at a special meeting in lancaster stated that they wanted to sell off part of their land at their nursery because of lack of money.
How does this affect you?????
You as a tax payer you give this agency 1% of your property tax dollars (which amounts to around $160,000 a year). the avrcd in turn squanders this vauable asset with petty projects that generate no return.
On the other hand the Nursery does generate capital (sometimes it does not cover expenses sometimes it does)and performs a service to the community. This service makes available low cost native ground cover, plants, flowers and trees that are increasingly being required by the Lancaster and Palmdale cities as water tolerant plants. These plants are not carried by Lowes, Homedepot of other Nurseries, so where will we get these things when the AVRCD nursery is sold to the highest bidder.
Now we come to the headliner:
The property was purchased from a government agency and as I understand it the property has to be offered to other Gov Agencies first before being offered to the public. 2 years ago there was a public outcry on the closing of the nursery because it was being sold and the sale was terminated.(It was not offered to a gov agency or anybody else it was a private sale"""sounds like a sweatheart deal for whom"""" ")If the AVRCD board wants to get rid of something why don't they terminate themselves. They don't want to spend time to perform their duties they want cram new hires down our throut to do their work for them.(point: new hires need to be discussed at the board meeting, this is not been done.)
There is a board meeting tonight at:
Resource Conservation District
44811 North Date Avenue, Suite G, Lancaster, CA 93534
WEDNESDAY, March 26, 2008 6:00 P.M.
You may not agree with people squandering your money but they are wasting your property tax dollars for nonproductive garbage. you may be a gang banger, home owner, police man or common citizen, you couldn't get away with this , why let these idiots get away with it.

Are they selling off part of the land that the nursery sits on or are they selling off part of the land surrounds the nursery?

Again, what is it with this board, it seems a yearly event. The people try to keep the nursery alive and well, the board of directors try to destroy it. I've watched for years while the board has squandered money and grants on "Dust Busters" and events held anywhere but here in the valley. What has Dust busters done, nothing, try and find the projects they accomplished, and "Envirathon"? anybody here in the valley ever hear of it? I know they have "down below" that's what we support, not local exactly is it?

It seems that The president of the avrcd board missed another meeting (1hr. late at last one and late the one before)), while another member spends all his time at the poppy fields but says he is sick and didn't show, and the farmer rep. had personal emerg. so there was no Forum and the meeting was conveniently canceled.
Orchestrated, Plot, who knows, but if you can't take care of business """GET OUT""" and let somebody else do the job.
It may be related to the botched land trade a few years ago when they wanted to close the nursery and things didn't work out. But with land values at this low level why all the hokey pokey at stalling meetings.

Well I don't like it when Autocrats rip off the taxpayer. Just so they can get little favors for themselves or get their name on projects or on buildings. They also get their friends to work on repair projects and in the office with taxpayer money.

Is that a year or during the term. Some of the board members must be in violation. That would be funny if their ploy backfired on them.

I have been buying plants there for years.
I was wondering if these so called "board members" have ever visited or ever got their hands dirty at the nursery. This nursery does a service to the community and I personaly would like to keep it.

I have been calling the board office and no one ever answers. No special meeting until the regular one I think. Why did they bother trying to have a special meeting when the three members don't show. I bet it was a test to see how many people showed up fighting mad.

Old Town Homeowners Group is very interested and concerned about the Antelope Valley Resource Conservation District Nursery. We appeal to all who are interested in honest government and our environment to become involved in the issue of the AVRCD trying to sell our land so they can put in another housing tract. Old Town Homeowners Group is looking for volunteers who are willing to brainstorm with us and help us to keep this incompetent board from stealing our nursery and well, they plan to sell to a developer. Does anyone know if it is true that the land deal is with Eliopulos? We are looking for any documentation verifying or dispelling that rumor. You can reply to us at oldtownhomeowners@sbcglobal.ne t

Check out the board member (aka citizen) post on the AVRCD poll thread. Kind of weak and he/she tries to hide by using a out of area location (had someone post for them).

I went to the Open House and what an improvement, the place looked fabulious. Plenty of plants to buy.(heaven knows I spent a lot of green). I asked the lady in the art exibit if somebody in charge was around I wanted to thank them for a job well done. She said that only 1 board member showed up and that she had just left. But we could talk to the volunteers about the Nursery.
What is with the Board, they didn't show up, busy at the Poppy festival, or the poppy preserve. The place looked great, they should have been proud to be there. Now I see why everybody is angry.

I agree. These people need to get a life. Don't you have anything better to do all day then sit around making up stories? Isn't there any senior centers around your area that have bingo or something to keep your mind occupied?

Ephesians 4:29 –“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

You're committing a sin people!!!

Anybody hear what happened at the meeting last night. If I am committing a sin by asking a question it pales in the light of my major screw-ups, so burn me at the stake.
