gas prices on Lanai

Lanai City Service gas is still over $5.50 a gallon, when gas in Oahu has dropped to lower than $2.80. James Coon (VP of LCS) has stated that the price reflects the cost to barge it to our small island. I just wondered if we can report this to an agency that investigates gas prices or should we just be happy we even have gas and "free turkeys" at Thanksgiving. I kinda was just wondering if anyone else is feeling the pain at the only pump in town and can we do anything about it?

IMO:
The gas prices are ridiculous! When we asked LCS "when will our gas price go down?", the answer we got was, "when we use up all of the gas left in the tank/last shipment". I think it's stupid because when the gas prices go higher, they don't wait until everyone uses all the gas in the tank/last shipment before raising the price. Instead, they raise the price right away! Also, we asked them this question weeks ago, I bet we've had at least 2 shipments of gas since then, but still no change in prices! I don't think it's high because of the cost of shipping, wouldn't it be the same as shipping to Molokai, Maui, or Big Island? Don't their barges stop at Oahu first too? I think everyone here is just getting ripped off!

My husband got laid off so we're struggling to pay the bills, and one thing that keeps us sane is going to the beach to go fishing to catch food and relieve stress but we can't even go to the beach anymore because we can't afford the gas!

The damn turkey doesn't make up for it! They better start giving us 12-pounders, not 7 lb turkeys!

We should do something about it!

We have filed this report from the US Department of Energy. Go to gaswatch. energy.gov and fill out the below report. I think there is something very suspicious about the whole "We have to use up all of the gas in the tank first" answer. Sounds like BS to me. I copied the form here if anyone wants to read first before reporting. More people who fill out the form the better!

Gas Price Watch Reporting Form

The Department of Energy is very concerned about the impact of gasoline prices on American families. While we are working to address longer term supply issues, we're also working to make sure American families are being treated fairly. If you believe there may be price-gouging, or price-fixing, please contact your local authorities and fill out the form below.

I think that they should either stop giving the lanai people the run around and bring gas prices to a descent price like Maui and Molokai. Why does lanai have to be so expensive and why being on such a small island do they have to do this being that LCS is th only gas station that we can get gas from they should really think what they are doing to th lanai community and really do something about it.
