Thin them out! Not enough hunters these days or just poor shots? Maybe the license fees are too high for most just like the fishing licenses, which are total rip off, that and not enough access for hunters(private property). At least the deer meat isn't contaminated is it?

My husband is a hunter, not that the 2 he usually gets in a year make a big difference on the animal population, but it is a help. He does not hunt for the sport of it, the biggest buck, etc, he hunts to put food on our table as well as helping to control some population.

Not all hunters are hunting illegally, close to homes, etc. He hunts on my parents property, where my dad is happy to get rid of some deer that eat his crops.

For all you who feel bad for bambi - they have no animals in this area to control them - what else do you suppose we do? You feel bad for Bambi, what about the cow and chicken and pig you eat? Those are grown specifically for you to eat, and given hormones too. Yummm, now those are tasty! I would rather eat my wild, naturally grown meat.

My neighbors are the 'wet lands' and a tree farm. If the farmer and the neighbor what stop cutting down the trees, removing the high hedge rows, the deer wouldn't be eating the trees. Wildlife is suppose to be safe in the 'wet land' areas. I enjoy watching the deer and the fawns. Oh, there's the other neighbor, walked out his back door and....."""BANG """ shoots the mother of the fawn. I saw the poor fawn wondering in my backyard alone yesterday. Wouldn't you say something is wrong with this picture?
1. shooting a gun between two houses
2. destroying trees and other vegetation in wet lands
3. killing wildlife in wet lands
4. cruelty
I guess if your wealthy, you can do as you please.

So why not call the Game Warden to talk to your neighbor about shooting too close to houses and also shooting out of season? Or are you the type that sees something wrong and says "It's none of my business"?

None of the things you mentioned have anything to do with hunting, just crappy neighbors with guns and chainsaws.

I assumed he/she did call the cops or game warden, because complaining on here is pretty much useless.

NO
What did the police say when you called them? No cop has been around yet for
me to ask questions or talk to for advice.
None of the things you mentioned have anything to do with hunting, just crappy neighbors with guns and chainsaws.
Thought everyone was talking about deer. I see your not a very nice person.
Call the game commission unless your afraid of being next.
Thanks for the info.

I wasn't really complaining, just telling a story about deer. Complaining anywhere is pretty much useless.

Instead of complaining report him to the game commission. It is not hunting season.

So you just came here with a problem, and no solution in mind. Call the damn cops or game warder when you see this happen. Dont just sit and wait for them to magically appear.

This fool might want to take a defense drinving course, drive slower, be more aware, get her head out of her azs, etc... Five deer in a decade? How many other animals, people, vehicles, stationary objects or other things hast his fool run into in the past decade?
Deer jump out in front of you from hidden places. I've already seen one jump across two lanes over N.Cedar Crest Blvd. If you're driving in an area where deer are living you don't really have a chance. I always drive those areas with high beams and constantly scan for deer.

We now have a reintroduction of a lot of wildlife that was not here fifty years ago. Eagles, Vultures , deer , hawks , coyotes , bear and wolf to name a few.
I hate to break the news to you but all of the above were here more than 50 years ago except the wolf.

Is the wolf here now? Have some proof?

Furthermore none of the above, except the wolf, was reintroduced as they have not been absent in PA, except the wolf which does not live wild in PA.

1. It is a violation of game law to shoot at game or other animals while within 150 yards of a structure without permission of the owner.

2. Illegal

3. It's not illegal to hunt in a wetland. Deer season is currently closed anyway.

4. Cruelty? How so?

This guy may call himself a hunter but he is NOT a hunter. He is a poacher.

The PGC is the authority to call about the deer being killed illegally.

Thank you for this info and I just don't know where to go on the net
to find things like this out. Can you tell me? I got to talk to a cop on the
phone yesterday. I filled out a form on the Game Commission site for poaching.
The cop told me that someone would be out to look around in the woods
for a dead deer and get the bullet. I am a retired female and don't care to
be shot while in my back yard, whether he is shooting at a deer or not.

Again, if this individual was shooting at animals while within 150 yards of your house, that is illegal unless you give permission, which you clearly have not done.

Deer season is currently closed so he shot that deer illegally.

You need to collect as much evidence as you can to help capture this poacher! As an ethical hunter I urge you to do what you can in this regard!
