Burned by not broken, BBQ eatery to reopen

Full story: Lebanon Daily News

Although nine months "isn't a long time in the grand scheme of things," as Oliver Gruber says, "it's been a lifetime for me." Gruber, along with his wife, Amy, ran the Smokestack Lightning BBQ restaurant in Lickdale until a fire destroyed the business in February.

You don't need to expand your menu. Focus more on BETTER BBQ. I've eaten at your place on a few times and thought the bbq could have been better. Work on that. Leave the other stuff up to the pizza geeks up the street. All you need is BBQ and you'll be fine. Do it right, before somebody else does!

I agree with the guru above. The bbq could be better. Sometimes, your smoke gave a very acrid taste to the meat. I've seen yellow smoke coming from your smoker already. That'll be all but creosoty on the meat. You need a nice greyish-white smoke. The wood was either not hot enough or was damped down too hard or even too "green". Please make good bbq & I'll be there all the time.

Silly...obviously someone named "Not Broken" burned the building. LDN would never make a mistake.

To BBQ Guru and Wood Smoke
Smokestack Lightning is sadly missed in our town. I ate there with my family almost once a month. There is nothing in the area whose food is near as good as their's, not Memphis Blues or Smokey Bones. I can't wait until November 16th when they open again and plan out attending the first night they are open. It's been too long.....

Great news.
Your food at the old location was EXCELLENT.

However, your SIGNAGE was small and nearly unreadable.
It was DIFFICULT to refer people to visit your restaurant, and extra effort needed to explain the red lettered sign that is hard to read.

IMPROVE SIGNAGE, and your SALES will improve.

Making a mistake's not hard; fixing it is the challenge. I've been trying for a day and a half and darned if I can figure out how to get that typo out of there.

I'm just glad to see something useful moving in to the old gym. It was getting to be an eyesore.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Taurus

This is another day in which you should be monitoring the progress you've made so far with the festivities and deciding what has still to be done. You're operating very efficiently right now but you'll be even more effective if you can plan your time carefully, write lists of what you must buy or make, and be realistic about your capabilities. But don't expect to work miracles.
