It's been that long ? Poor Patrick, we'll miss him.
Jasper has been known for their pretty girls. I married one. There were so many I had to flip a coin to decide which one. They were sweeties too.
Who is running the Webb Hardware now ? Roy's daughters were pretty ones too.
When I left Jasper we were still using crank phones and our football helmets were made of leather. 1954. Our basketball shorts were as short and tight as the Dallas Cowgirls shorts.
Roy Webb was my Great grandfather, RR Hardware was run by Roy and his son Richard, Richard was my granddaddy. He had a stroke a few years ago, and we decided as a family that it had to be sold. It was auctioned off so that so many wonderful people could cherish the unbelievable antiques and keep the memories alive. It was a huge turnout and we were so blessed. The building was bought by an artist. It is still there and I drive up to visit it often, my granddaddy passed away 3 years ago. "Grandboy", which is what I called Great granddad Boyer, would have been so pleased. I grew up in that hardware store. Webbs were an important part of Jasper history, the hardware store has had many stories written about it.

I was in Erick in the 50's and the only bar I know of was a door or two east of the Drug Store on the South side of Main Street. A drunk would come there every year and paint murals on the walls for beers. I did more business with customers playing pool. As usual it smelled like urin. Which reminds me, is Pete McClintock still around ?

In the above post I made a boo-boo. Where it says "I" did more business, it should have said "It".

For the record people it was based in jasper Missouri....if you look at the scene where dalton is firing people for drugs and weeding out the bad staff one of the guys sweatshirts says missouri on it...also the scene with brad wesley driving erratically down the road in the red ford mustang has a missouri tag on it...so sadly you are mistaken about jasper tennesee.

His junk car has Show-me-state tags on it, but it was all filmed in CA. Sadly.

The fight between Dalton and Jimmy at the end is an epic one, but may go down in cinematic history as containing one of the cheesiest lines ever! "I used to F**k guys like you in prison"! OMG I still laugh my ass off when he says that!
Just as bad was Dalton's comeback- "You are such an ***hole!" Sounds like it was written by a junior high school kid. I'm surprised they could pay Swayze enough to say some of those lines.

The movie was filmed in California but was set in Jasper, Missouri. They mention "down in Memphis" a few times in the movie which is considered to be in the midwest. Missouri is just northwest of Memphis, TN.
