I will be traveling to Lamar the first week in March. Never have been there before. Will have a couple of days to leisurely look about. Would someone be kind enough to give me some pointers as to some highlights … historical sites to visit, good places to eat, etc.? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Historical sites you will find south of Lamar in Carthage Missouri. Very interesting town. Lamar is more of a go to town and get what you need town.
A very quiet farm community. Carthage has some very interesting architecture and some civil war history. |

Thank you for the response. I've been through Carthage a number of times over the years, but never really spent any time there. We will check it out as we will have time to do so this trip.

We are a quiet, little town but we have some great things. Of course the big one is Harry Truman's birthplace. It is a small place so it won't take very long to go through. We also have a beautiful lake and park. Visit LamarMO.com for pictures, info and more links.
Good luck |

We made the trip week before last. Saw Truman's birthplace. We enjoyed our stay. Also, had some time to drive around Carthage. That is quite a courthouse they have there. Thanks for the response. |
