Thank you Mr. Schwartz and Peterson for thinking of the family and parents. Having children home a day while parents work is stressful and I would be concerned kids were out on the street unsupervised while parents are out working.

I find it hard to believe that Lamar's parents are less capable than those in, say, Las Animas or Eads. Surely if the families in all the surrounding districts that have four day weeks can figure out child care solutions, our parents can. Just talk to the parents from the 4 day districts. Nearly all of them were against the idea when they first heard of it, but the vast majority of them seem to support it now that they've experienced it. I doubt if Lamar's parents will fail to find the same sort of solutions that the parents in our neighboring districts have found.

More jobs lost or find a sitter for the full day on Fridays? Come on parents, seriously! Kids who have been brought up to respect authority and be good and who are able to run around on Fridays with friends, good for them! The district is still short on funding and parents want to whine about what to do with their kids. Its a small town, most people have neighbors or friends or know someone who may not work on Friday's.

The four day week statistics show it works and going this way saves more job loss! People in this town just cannot handle change and because of that, look where our community is heading!

Sure we all have questions, opinions, but the obvious needs to be done!

TO RUKIDDINGME
Read the other posts about parents who have children already in 4 day school weeks. hmmm. no children out robbing banks or committing crimes there... hmm ... Do you have children? Make sure it's not YOUR children "our running the streets" then. Control your own and quit whining!

Really? I am just close enough to that situation to wonder just what two teachers you would be referring to?

Its funny how all take an atta-boy comment and turn it into a teardown flame war. I do have children. Do you? Save your personal questions for off-internet as they have no meaning.
Hey! Novel idea! Want to save money? teach the kids the 3-R's and cut the sports programs. Oh No! We can't do that.....sports teaches so much!

phooey! home schooling sounds better and better.

On a sidenote: re-read my post. I stated 'I would be concerned kids were out on the street unsupervised while parents are out working.'
Not so worried about my kids, thanks. I was more concerned about your'latchkey' kids.

Ru kidding me is right. Downtime is the devil's playgound, as my captain once told me, and has proven true.

My baby (6) goes to school in Pueblo, and working those streets... easily the most violent city in the state.

But, she gets goes half day on friday's. Those of you that claim that you cannot deal with it. LEAVE! Kansas is 25 minutes away. Oklahoma an hour.

That is your darn kid and the Feds have you covered regarding time with your kid(s), unless your time off is that precious to you, and you cannot take time off for your kid. Disgusting.

TO RUKIDDINGME! Yes, I have children. Went through the Lamar School Ditrict and are doing quite well. Have experience in the 4 day week too. the 3-R's are being taught. If you were involved with your children and their education (homework) you would know that already. hmmmmm. You need to stop whining and complaining and get involved. You want to home school your children, then do it. Parents like you are why our schools are like the way they are.

Silly, Really. Do not make assumptions regarding me nor mine, thank you. Make no assumptions of my level of involvement either. You are making a singular directed attack at me. Grow up ! Perhaps the 4 day week is a better alternative. The five day week seems to have had no benefit for you.
