Beggars at Wal-Mart

So as I was packing my groceries away in the Wal-Mart parking lot a few minutes ago, I overheard a group of 3 or 4 women begging this lady in her car for some money to buy groceries. She obviously said no because they then broke into saying things like, "We're not using it for anything bad" and "We love Jesus". Meanwhile, one of the girls who wasn't directly engaged in the conversation, was playing with a cell phone. I work hard, every day. I have deployed to a warzone and served my country, and in my life, in order to afford the things we had to pay for like rent and groceries, I have made sacrifices. I turned off our cable television, cancelled my wife's cell phone since she stays at home and it was less important that she have one, and I have sold video games that I like in order to afford the things my family needed. I could go on, but you get the point. When I see people like this, who think that a cell phone is just as, or apparently more important than groceries, and they try to use religion to coerce people, I just want to punch them in the throat and then laugh as they gasp for air...

I get approached on a regular basis by people asking me for money. Many times it's, "Can I have a few bucks to get a gallon of gas?", but when you offer to go buy gas and bring it to them, that's not good enough. I've only ever donated to one person who begged me for something, and that's because he literally asked me to buy him a burger at Wendy's, he didn't ask me for money.

I am originally from Kentucky, and am probably one of the most generous people you'll ever find, if you're legitimately in need, but I'm to the point that I'm going to start handing " " business cards out to every able bodied person who asks me for money, and calling the cops if they get persistent when I refuse to donate to their drug habits. Maybe it's because this sort of thing never happened back home because EVERYBODY was poor, and we knew how to deal with it, or maybe it's just an intolerance for laziness, but I'm getting seriously irritated with all the "beggars" I'm seeing who are just too damn lazy, or stupid, to get and keep a job and then live within their means.
