Now after reading all the posts I get the feeling that everyone believes we shouldn't have prosecutors, judges and juries, because we all know he was drunk, high on drugs, speeding, probably crashed the red light and is GUILTY. I hope after he gets a FAIR TRIAL and found guilty the penalty will be severe. Of course Bill Mason should not be the one to prosecute, we now know how he hides facts about cases.

I have to say I know him. We were childhood friends, he is a quiet, everyday working, shy person that to me is still a kid. He made very bad decisions and poor judgement to say the least. I never thought this happens, hit and runs, but they do, and alot in florida. I know that if the victim was a family member I would be very hurt and angry. But this is a person, who was scared, and made a horrible costly decision. Can we not judge like this and remember he has a life too. A mom and dad who love him and are crying for his life. I feel bad for everyone involved

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That said, things don't look too good for your friend. You might think people are angry on here because they don't have empathy, but I think they do. They empathize with the mom and dad of the person that was killed, and the mom and dad of the person that was injured. Yes he is scared, made a horrible costly decision, and has a life too. Well the people that were hit were probably scared 50 times more when they saw a truck coming straight at them with no way to avoid it. His horrible costly decision impacted two lives greatly, even cutting the one short. We remember that your friend has a life too, but what about the life of the person that died? Didn't they have a life too? How many people shed tears over their death and over the other person's injury?

Mistakes happen. Everyone makes bad decisions. Unfortunately, in this case, there is no saying "I'm sorry" to make everything better. One man is dead and another is seriously injured because of your friend's alleged actions. We the American people have empathy, but we don't want to die a violent death or become seriously injured because someone made a horrible costly decision. We have every right to live our lives in peace, free from worrying that some person will hit us with their car and not even have the decency to stop and try to help us. It speaks volumes that no one turned themselves in after this incident. The American people want justice in this matter and we are understandably and justifiably angry.

Everyone deserves a fair trial. I am lucky to live in a country that values justice over snap-judgements in order to provide peace-of-mind to people that are afraid and want someone to blame. I am not saying there is not reason to be angry or upset that this horrible event occurred. But we know NOTHING about the facts in this case. Judging anyone before the whole story comes out in court (which I, for one, am confident that it will and that justice WILL be served), NO ONE has a right to assume anything about the accused or the family. I am praying every day for all three families that are suffering immensely right now.
