It's cool unless you own Pitbulls--- then they tell you you're not welcome in the community anymore.

Lakewood has a strong and diverse population. Those of us who grew up here and now have purchased homes here as adults laugh at how ridiculous these comments are. Lakewood is an amazing place to live: good food, amazing schools, affordable home prices, a sense of community, a wonderful library and culture...any good city should hope for that much. We welcome everyone. That is what a good city does. All of you who live in your shut-up suburbs with nothing more than a bunch of shopping malls and one-story houses can hide in your basements and and be soooo scared of all the “diverse” factions that might infiltrate your perfect lives. All you are doing is missing out on everything that makes this world a great place to be. Lakewood celebrates that. I, for one, want to make sure it always does.

I am not so sure. it is wonderful to be on the top 10 list. But Lakewood is getting shady. I work late and because RTA stopped running the 55 down Clifton, we all have to take the Detroit, and walk down 117. Every nite some frighting stranger engages you. hustlers. street people, Police raids regularly. I am scared to death to walk to Clifton. There are few dim street lights on 117 and dark alleys everywhere. Once you get to Clifton, you do seem safer, once in Lakewood. I moved here to be safe.

Radar for what? More gays and lesbians?
And I did read it. It states the the food at the melt is unhealthy, the picture that it shows was taken from the upper part of Edgewater park.
The only thing that will stand out in the whole stupid peice is that we have a sizable gay and lesbian community.
The radar is for teachers that would like to share a little extra love to the kids. Some teachers are so nice in Lakewood they even share their beds with the students.

When we on the high school sports teams back in 71-74. Some guys used to pay us 30.00-50.00 on the weekends if we would strip down to our underwear and let him take photos.( Some of you guys know what I'm saying.) I quess that is Lakewood's fine arts program. How about them Arabs that took over from 110th all the way to rocky river drive? People have been beaten, robbed, raped, and killed all over lakewood. How can this be cool?

Who voted for this again? This place has been in decline since 2000. It is filled with young hooligans, tap out wearing drunks and dilipidated properties. Quarter million dollar town houses are being built in undesireable places and the crack heads are getting a little out of control around here. The independant retailers suffer from lack of parking and the schools are filled with Cleveland residents.

This is awesome. I have crossed the river [East Sider!] and enjoy Lakewood. I love the Restaurants- Delicious Food!
What I need is someone to help my neighborhood, revitalize East 185th Street Neighborhood, Cleveland.
This sort of publication would be so very helpful to E185th Street More so perhaps I could even sell my house, "For Sale By Owner" so I could begin my married life with my husband in Akron.
So FITZGERALD help our council bring ARTS and Yummy Restaurants EAST!

Move from the east side to Akron? That's like leaving the primate house at the zoo and moving right into the Congo.

I live near Delaware and there is no bus close by for me to go anywhere at night or the weekends since the 25 Madison bus no longer runs at those times...and for me to get to Downtown by bus...I have to take the 25 to Westgate and then the 26 Downtown...so freaking stupid

After reading the moronic, idiotic, homophobic, racist comments courtesy of a few people on this thread I am sooooo happy I live in Lakewood. If these people where my neighbors I would want to throw myself out a window.

Judge, Judge, Judge, where the heck do you people live? Clearly, no where as cool. Haters! All us Lakwoodites will keep loving the place we call home. Peace.

They have a new invention out now, its called an automobile, or ride a bike, or have the nice people that you grew up with give you a ride. What is so hard, when you live in one of the coolest suburbs? Have a melt buger and be happy.

I haven't lived in Lakewood, Ohio for 34 years, I was born and raised there until I was 16, My early childhood, was good growing up in lakewood, but when I grew past the age of 12, I saw the snobbyness of Lakewood, the racists of lakewood... I wasn't raised like that, and later.. after I moved to Cleveland, I didn't raise my son like that... people are people, it doesn't matter how much money you make, or what color you are..(my life long opinion)...Lakewood was called "A Predominately White Suburb"...It was snobville... and as a matter of fact... there used to be a candy factory, It was Hershey's..they did tours and gave out candy samples... for little kids, there was Lakewood and Madison Park, with swimming pools, people sat on their porches, people knew their neighbors, watched out for their neighbors and for their kids... I know times change.. and Lakewood has changed...
