"Tiedeman was driving a 2003 Nissan Xterra sport utility vehicle when, for unknown reasons, it went onto the shoulder, hit several trees and shrubs, and rolled over onto its roof"

Translation: Teens texting while driving

No, not texting but drinking and driving. The sad part is that he not only killed himself but took another life with him. People need to realize that drinking and driving kills. They should of stated the facts in this report. The driver was DRUNK.

Because I know the boys. One was left to do whatever he wanted. No restrictions from parents and that is what happens. Parents you need to monitor your kids. You need to set rules. Don't be blind or think you should be their friends. Children need boundaries and rules. I feel very sad that this tragedy occurred but the truth should be told. Hopefully friends will see what drinking and driving can lead to.

How do we know that the above post about alcohol being a factor is or isn't true?

No one has beat up on them or expressed disrespect for the victims, and besides, we know that humans are not perfect and don't need you to tell us that. People will have opinions and talk and post about this and whatever subject whether you like it or not. That is reality. If you don't like it, don't read the posts.

Amen! As a father myself, I have concerns as well, and "felt" this loss immediately upon reading the story. They weren't my sons, but in a way I felt the hurt too. There are enough hazards without creating them ourselves. As parents, many of us bust our butts to provide the best discipline and guidance to our children as possible, but ultimately it is up to them to make the right choices and manage risk themselves.

This tragedy that has engulfed 2 families as well as 2 communties will never change who these boys were to their TRUE friends and families. The callousness and bitterness stated from these EMTPY-HEADED /EMPTY-HEARTED men are yet another reason why if you cant say something nice about someone, then shut the hell up. If you claim to know these individuals than pay your respects and hold your tongues and keep your slamming for myspace or facebook.

First of all it is "then" not "than". My posts are not slamming. I am thankful to be in a free country were I am able to speak.

This was a tragic accident that had everything to do with alcohol. If you want to be closed minded and pretend it wasn't, then shame on you. Young people need to understand that alcohol kills. Now that he is gone there is no suffering for him but how about his parents, the parents of the other child?

Young people think they are invinsible. They are selfish and only care about their "high" at that moment. Take this tragic loss and reflect. Take this tragedy and educate your peers that drinking and driving are a deadly mix. Each year in the United States thousands lose their lives because an impaired driver made a reckless decision to drink and drive.

Okay why are people even fighting on here? two lives were just lost and they were both great guys! Regardless if he was drunk or texting shouldn't give anyone the right to say anything... Two innocent lives were lost and theirs nothing you can do to take it back! Families are hurt over this and everyone should just keep their mouth shut...

If alcohol was the case then why wasn't it in the article? Usually it will say DRUNK DRIVER DIES AND KILLS ANOTHER. It didn't, it states unknown reason. I do have to admit my first thought was texting. As for the parents you can't expect parents to be with your kids 24/7 and you just Pray they use what you taught them when there out with friends but sometimes they don't. I do too hope that IF it was drinking & driving other kids learn from this. I also hope people get facts & don't just assume!!
