Finally a police department that was willing and able to do their sworn duty and enforce all laws – way to go Lakeville police! Kudos.

Too bad for these criminal aliens – just a few miles more and they would have been home free. Once in Minneapolis or St. Paul they could have been put on the social services rolls, started to their receive checks, get housing vouchers, send back home for their kids so they can get into school next fall. They even could have even voted in November’s election and helped the local DFL fill their post here in Utopia (I’m sure that the DFL would have helped facilitate this as always).

Maybe the next vanload of criminal aliens should at the very least obey the speed laws until they arrive here in Utopia. Once here, naturally you are exempt from obeying any of our laws as is usual.

Hey look at the bright side - at least this carload of criminal aliens will be home in time for Cinco de Mayo. Have a Corona for us Amigo, and see you all back here in Utopia in a few weeks.

First of all you don't know what this people go through. They come her to work. they are not CRIMINAL as you make it seem. For your information this people CANNOT get social services rolls, started to their receive checks, get housing vouchers. First get educated about the topic and then voice your option.

Had Enough: They would not be able to vote until attaining legal citizenship. That requires more knowledge of the democratic process than you seem to possess.

Angel: Thank you!

Red Ryder: Try to take the high road, Red. The driver in that crash was not here legally, true, but nowhere in my logic can I find that fact relevant to the case. If she did have the appropriate paperwork, what stereotype would we blame for the deaths of those kids? Women drivers? Factory workers? How about the school bus crashes where the implicated person isn't a minority, who then would you blame?

Mary: Is this the same person who vowed that all smokers should burn in hell?

If not here illegally in the 1st place, Olga wouldn't have been able to here to kill 4 children. That's her most serious crime, not the ONLY one.

She was using an identity stolen from a Puerto Rican NY resident.("victimless crime", sure....)

It took several days to unravel her identity, because she also lied about being from Mexico after they discovered that her identity was stolen.

IIRC, she also didn't have a drivers license, though I could be mistaken about that.

I’m sure she’s got a taxpayer paid-for attorney, and hospital treatment...so the sky’s the limit, after all, it’s FREE!!!!!

I think I am very educated on the topic. These people who cross our borders without permission, come here to steal jobs, education and opportunity from honest, hardworking citizens and legal immigrants.
If the children of illegal immigrants send their children to our schools, do they take a free eduation, receive free lunch require additional resources due to English as a second language. We have law makers in this state advocating resident tuition for these criminals? Do these illegals have a drivers license? valid insurance? There are laws and procedures for these people to follow to enter and work in this country.
By entering this country illegally, these people open themselves up to exploitaion by dishonest employers. These illegals don't pay their fair share to the system. These crooked employers don't pay their fair share in FICA, TAX, ETC. Recently there have numerous cases of human trafficing involving illegals for sex trade.
Citizens and legal immigrants follow the rule of law. Some don't. That's not at issue here, so don't cloud the issue.

Being in this country illegally is against the laws of our country. Anyone that do not believe or disobeys these laws should leave this country. We are a nation of laws, which if followed, protects our freedoms. People who do not wish to follow these laws, should leave.

The police that stole their freedom should be ashamed of themselves!
You were not quite as sympathetic to the girl that posted nude photos. You did'nt ask her to dine. What gives? Could it be that these people are probably Catholics?

I believe you're right about the license. We're in agreement that Olga Franco committed crimes, entering the U.S. illegally and identity theft among them. I'm just failing to see a connection between her immigration status and the crash that killed the children. Were she here as a documented worker, the crash may still have happened.

For the record, I do believe that immigration laws should be followed and enforced. National security at the borders is of utmost importance, of course, in these post-9/11 times. However, we must take a collective deep breath and take a moment to reconsider what it is we're trying to protect this nation from. Bomb-building terrorists who intend to bring physical harm to others, not people who are willing to break their backs to make enough to support their families, right?

As for the idea that those who cross the border are taking away jobs from hard-working nationals, I don't really buy it. Migrant workers aren't taking the easy money jobs. Follow the loudest voice in that argument and you'll likely find someone who isn't willing to take such humble work.

I must respectfully disagree w/ your statement regarding taking jobs illegally. Employment law is in place to protect the worker, employer, consumer, our citizenry. By starting a job illegally these people are being set up for exploitation. These workers are not kicking in their fair share(taxes). The tax payers are stuck with the bills to educate/ feed children of illegals.

Once again, our elected officals are letting us down. There should be a guest worker program that require the worker to follow US law (i.e. required insurance coverage, proper vehicle licensing). NO AMNESTY, once a law breaker, always a law breaker. Employers will be required to pay a living wage, taxes, FICA, etc. There should be stiff civil and criminal penalties enforced NOW against any employer aiding illegals in breaking US immigration laws.

Just because you don't agree with a law doen't make right to ignore it. If you disagree w/ the law, work to change it. In the meantime law ewnforcement and gov't officials should DO THEIR JOBS.

I wonder why it is that so many people posting here seem afraid of losing their job to an illegal migrant worker. I'm totally against them comming to our country illegally, but how many people on this message board are woking at jobs they would take. I don't know about you , but I'm not going to be doing the backbreaking job of picking crops or cutting the heads off of chickens in some meat packing plant any time soon. So why are you worried about the jobs they take?

Taser, if they did not take those jobs at less than minimum wage - the employers would be forced to increase the pay for these jobs - and make them livable wages - then you will see the under-educated American citizens - taking these jobs. Especially if the welfare system, would make some changes to make sure people actually have to get a job eventually. Cause why work if the government will pay for my food, clothes and housing.

angel: I'm sorry but you are wrong about illegals receiving social service. Our educations system is one of the largest social services we as a society provide. Besides a free education, they get lunches, English as a Second Language programs. Now we have legislator advocating free and reduced cost post secondary education opportunities for illegals and their children. We do not have endless resources and finances in our education system. Essentially, these people are stealing opportunity from those who follow the rules and the law.
If you don't like the law, work to change it. Until then it is still theft, period.

Taser, I'm not afraid of losing my job to these people. When I was younger, I worked the produce field and farms. That work was probably the greatest motivator I had for paying attention in school, getting a good job(s), etc. But, you have to start reading the news, multiple cases of human trafficking for sex trade, blatent disregard for criminal and civil responsibility, children on school buses being killed, a child run over and dragged for a half a mile. All of this cost this country financially and morally.

We are a sovereign nation with a right to defend our borders. When these people enter this country illegally they steal a spot at the table from someone who follows the rule of law as a guest of this country.

We, the citizens and legal residents of MN/USA, have provided millions with opportunity, housing and a new life. Hmong, Somoli, Tibetan, and many other communities have come here, most of the people have flourished and invited others to follow, legally. These same people who came here invited are rightfully pround of their heritage. But they will assimilate like generations before. Part of their cultures will become ours.

There are rules and laws that must be followed, when not followed you show no respect for this country or its citizens.

GB Fan: Thank you. Your arguments are rock solid, educated, and respectful. I find nothing I disagree with in your comments. This makes me take a greater look at my own stand on the matter. What you've helped me understand is that my issue is not with the immigration system or the educational system or any system, really.

Thinking on it further (I thank you for that) I realize my frustration is with the misguided anger that some people show for anyone who was not fortunate enough to be born on American soil to American parents. I get it, why people are upset about illegals as lawbreakers. Beyond that, what I don't get is the "keep 'em all out!" mentality. It is not the fault of those who immigrate into the U.S.(legally or not), that the laws are what they are and that our established methods have failed us. We who have lived here our entire lives are the ones who made the laws what they are now. It seems a forgotten ideal that America is the great melting pot, the land of opportunity, that we are all the adopted children of Lady Liberty.
