Her husband is more guilty then she is as far as I am concerned. He knew she was mentally ill and did NOTHING to get his wife help long before Cece was allowed to drown. In stead he cut all ties to both sides of the family and shut her in and she got worse over time.
It wasnt me Lord!!....it was that MAN you gave me!!!

The poor little thing. We failed her by not "empowering" her.

It isnt the males fault either...the "Village" let her down. If the greedy "rich" had paid her tuition, she could have been educated with a Degree in "Womyns Studies", found a good job in the marketplace using her useless Degree, and fled from this Evil man!

We must stand together Sisters!!

You need to take a test to drive a car but not to have children. To me that is strange.

If it turns out that the husband knew that she was mentally ill and did nothing to get her into treatment and then went off and left a mentally ill women to care for young children alone, you think the husband shouldn't bear any responsibility for what happened?

Maybe not a Honey Crisp to McIntosh comparison, but close enough. Two parents that through their own negligent killed their kids.
The differences? One was addicted to drugs and the other was addicted to shopping. Both put their own self-interests above their kids.
The only difference as I see it is that because the hunter used a gun and the mother used a bathtub, there is more outrage against the hunter.
If you watch both of these cases closely, I am willing to bet that the hunter's sentence is much harsher than the mother's.
Unfortunately, the kids are the real losers in both cases.
Laker I'm not sure I agree with your statement as the hunter was boozing and getting high, while bathtub mom has serious mental health issues. Her family cites possible mental illness issues. It's likely more than just "shopping addiction".

I guess you could make an argument that both had "mental health issues." It's always a convenient excuse no matter the situation. It will get her off the hook as well.

Are you saying that anyone who's ever had a bout of depression should be locked away and their kids taken from them? It was the mom who let the kids die, not the dad.

When you have children, you adjust your life around them, not vice versa.

uh...I never said the parent wasn't negligent...do you understand english? I simply stated I can't understand how she could leave her children alone...read my other post if you are still confused. Oh and thanks for comparing me to Hillary!!! I take it as a compliment.

I could not agree more, make it a more like 5 seconds.
My daughter is 10 YEARS old...likes her privacy, doesn't want anyone in the bathroom while she showers. I guess I should have been more clear with my first post...if I don't hear anything while she SHOWERS (she doesn't take a bath) for 5 minutes I go check on her. Plus if I hear something drop, say shampoo or something, I crack the door open and see if she is ok. You can't sit in and watch your kids forever, there has to be a cut off point somewhere.

It is unfortunate that too many today never learned this truth.
Somehow staying together for the kids became a horrible idea.
Nobody said stay together and fight, or make each other miserable for the kids. Adults can be civil and good parents even when they do not like each other. Lets face it...in 50years of marrige...there are going to be times when you do not like each other.

But face up to your choice to be parents, and forget about your new shoes.

If he ignored her deterioration thus putting his children at risk then yes he should be held partially responsible.

This was more than a "bout" of depression. This was obviously severe clinical depression. When it comes to the point that even neighbors realize that something is drastically wrong, you have to ask why the husband didn't try to get treatment for his wife, why he didn't at least remove the children from her care.

The husband told neighbors that he was aware of her mental issues but he did not want to "push the issue" with Katherine. B.T.W. she has multiple diagnoses, and the children are now able to be with her UNSUPERVISED because she is medicated. On top of depression and bipolar, multiple personality disorder and another disorder were mencioned in court yesterday. I pitty Dakota County if any, and I mean anything else happens to the remaining four children and even Todd for that matter.

Shhh...be nice to "Consistent." He's been badly victimized by the big bad feminists.

Funny that he left a day or two ago because he had "become a lesser person," but just couldn't stay away. I guess he's now okay with being a lesser person. The feminists made him that way, you know.
