Mom gets jail after teen rides in box atop van

A woman pleaded guilty and will spend five days in jail after letting her daughter ride in a cardboard box on top of their van.

I am a parent. Maybe it is because I am a new parent that I am missing something? I have an 11 year old sister, and if she asked to do anything like that I would tell her no. Why a parent would suggest that their child sit atop a moving vehicle is beyond me.

if i remember right, no joke now, the kid sat in the box to hold it down, because it would not fit in the van, the mom was not worried about the box sliding off because it was secured with a wire hanger. She could not understand why she was being stopped,or why numerous people called 911 to report the incident.
5 days, hu, i guess next time she may tie it down with 2 hangers...
