Nothing wrong with sentence bargaining, especially when you have nervous witnesses, cops that forgot to enter important facts in their original reports or some of the evidence is not too strong.
The worst thing that can happen during a trial and drives the DA nuts is when the defense attorney asks the officer: If you think this is an important fact against my client why are you mentioning it now on the stand months after the original investigation and didn't mention it in the original report? Every juror will start thinking the officer is making things up.
That's why very seldom my cases went to trial. In my DUI cases I covered every aspect about how the driver drove on the road. Every part of FST (Field Sobriety Test) I didn't leave the defense attorney too many areas that were not covered. Most of the cases were handled by sentence bargaining. And when I reviewed my officer reports, if they were sloppily written,
""""" I would make the officers rewrite them before approving them.""""
And even when the case looks like iron proof for the DA, all you need is a jury and even one single juror that feels sorry for the defendant. Everybody thought OJ would be found guilty and what happened?

The re-writing of the report is the perfect example of how a mob gob protects the local "crimminal" ..., interesting how he calls the alledged...a crimminal. Pre-judged.
And the first drafts of these reports are not much different than an alledged crimminal changing his or her story... and behaving as tho any previous statement was never made.
So LEO'S get to modify, alter, change their original statements or notes.... and act as tho the final edited copy is the only data.
Sounds very familiar... a LEO called the radio station and admitted that Leos will always protect each other... the covert code. He said he sees it every day, and will go to work again and do it himself and watch other leos do it... and he will do it with a clear conscience.
To the lay person it all smacks of organized crime.

I knew Tracey. Her Younger Sister was my best friend until her death on her own birthday from an accident on Angeles Crest Hwy in SoCal.

Who cares what they fought about. The son was in jail, so what kind of protection would be viable when the person, being "protected" was himself charged with battery and jailed the day before?

In truth it seems that the apple did not fall far from the tree, if their responses in conflict are violence.

Yes, the story is sad, but I don't care how nice they were when you knew them. If he shot Tracey, He is a murderer.

"I shot my wife" and "I'm guilty of murder" can be two entirely different things.
I am her x husband, Tracey and I were married in the late part of 1986 and only separated in the early 90's because I was overseas. I hope to hell that this bag of garbage gets the electric chair and I wish I could be the one to pull the switch.

She could make a person mad as hell but only a mad dog would ever hurt her. Rot in hell you sick bastard!
